Extremely Disappointing Experience
This was the worst $100 we’ve ever spent. The restaurant might have a Korean name, but that’s where the connection to Korean cuisine ends.
Service: The service was unacceptable. We had to call the waiter every single time just to get a water refill, and even then, we had to ask for an extra glass because they couldn’t count properly. Worst of all, they forgot to order our kids’ meals in the kitchen. My kids were hungry and upset, waiting 40 minutes, only to receive their food last, long after everyone else.
Food Quality: The food was far from authentic and poorly executed. • My beef kimchi rice tasted nothing like Korean cuisine—it had an overpowering Indian flavor, the beef was dry and cotton-like, and the rice was mushy and not fresh. • The udon my kids ordered was drenched in an overly sweet sauce, making it inedible for them. • My husband’s noodles tasted more like Chinese than Korean.
Other Issues: • At any real Korean restaurant, kimchi is served as a complimentary side—it’s a staple. Here, that wasn’t the case. • They brought dishes out one at a time to our group instead of serving everything together, which ruined the family dining experience. Korean meals are meant to be enjoyed together, not staggered.
Overall, this restaurant ruined what had been a beautiful day in San Juan. I regret paying for this meal—it was a complete waste of time and money. Avoid this place if you’re looking for authentic Korean food or...

Upon entering Kkogi, guests are greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, complete with modern decor and an attentive staff that ensures a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant prides itself on using high-quality ingredients, which is evident in the freshness and flavor of each dish served.
The menu at Kkogi Korean BBQ is extensive, featuring a variety of traditional Korean dishes that are expertly cooked and presented. Highlights include their succulent BBQ meats, which are marinated to perfection and grilled right at your table. The Galbi and Bulgogi are particularly noteworthy for their tenderness and rich flavors, which are enhanced by the interactive cooking experience. The side dishes, or banchan, are equally delightful, offering a range of tastes from tangy kimchi to sweet and savory japchae.
However, it's important to note that the excellence of Kkogi comes at a premium. The pricing can be a bit steep, making it a consideration for those dining on a budget. While the quality of the food and the dining experience justify the cost to some extent, it may not be a viable option for frequent visits without stretching...
Read moreI suspect this is a Chinese Restaurant that serves Korean food.
Their Kimchi dishes were good.
They are generous with the charcoal which you typically see only in high end Korean BBQ.
LA Kalbi is not as sweet as most locations, but this could be OK if you think LA Kalbi is too sweet.
The Kimchi Rangoons really didn't have much Kimchi in them.
The Korean Fried Chicken really is Chinese Orange Chicken with chicken wings.
They don't have Chadol (thin brisket). The side dishes all cost extra as others have noted.
Stateside, Koreans would get angry eating here. But being in PR where there is no competition, and the fact that I heard all the staff speaking Chinese, my expectations were limited.
The closest you could have authentic Korean BBQ would be in Atlanta.
Koreans stateside steal Japanese and Chinese restaurants. In PR, the Chinese steal the Korean concepts to make money. I wish them success.
For PR, intro experience, who never had authentic Korean BBQ before, I'd say they get a decent enough intro at this restaurant. It's just hard to go back once you've become accustomed to...
