I went to the bar a couple nights back for the first. The ambiance of the restaurant was good, the music and decorations went with the Mexican/Argentinian theme. The bar was sat with two girls, what seemed like a regular patron of the restaurant/bar and myself (4 people total). Both bartenders that night (Paola and Caleb I believe) ignored me for around 10 minutes, until Paola came over and asked what I wanted to drink. I told her it was my first time at the restaurant and she briefly introduced herself and pointed to her coworker, and told me about the restaurant’s concept. I told her that I needed some time to think and was ignored for another 5-10 minutes. I finally ordered my spicy strawberry margarita, which was awesome! As a former bartender, I recognize that the liquor selection and the mixers used were thoughtfully selected and made. I then ordered two tacos to start, and I was not offered water or even given napkins for the tacos. My first round of food came probably 15 min later. I was still not offered water or a xtra napkins. I tried to ask Caleb for these, but since I wasn’t speaking English, I suppose he “didn’t understand” lol 🤦🏽♀️. Paola gave me the items once requested. I then ordered a second round of tacos and was given one extra napkin by the food runner. Paola kind of tried to rectify the service, but by that point it was too late. I ordered my dessert, and once I was all finished, I had to wait another 15 minutes to get checked out. While the food was great (I had octopus, barbacoa, pork belly, and carnitas tacos, as well as a guava, cheese and jalapeño special dessert), the bar service left a lot to be desired. I have worked as a bartender and a server before, and understand the pressures and expectations of the job - if you wanna make money that is. The restaurant WAS NOT packed for the poor service that I received. I was hoping to scope out this restaurant for my birthday dinner in a couple weeks for my family and I, but sadly I will be choosing another establishment, where the steps of service are followed and I’m not made to feel like I’m ignored by the people providing me service.
I feel like the bartenders assumed I wasn’t going to tip them enough, therefore they kind of just brushed me off. I’m usually a 30% tipper if the service was outstanding - especially at the bar bc I know what it’s like. The service I recieved was not worthy of my usual tip.
If you “look like you’re from San Juan”, it’s best to steer clear of here. Callejeros is a better...
Read moreI still can't believe the bad experience I had in this restaurant. As soon as I order drinks and the appetizer the girl from valet parking tells me that she locked my keys in the car and the car wouldn't open. I went outside to check and yes the car was locked. My wife asks the girl if we could eat and the girl says no you are blocking the valet area and we need to take care of this. A waitress called a guy that opens cars and as I was waiting the girl from the valet tells me that this happend to her a week ago with another car. I told her that she shouldn't leave the keys in the car and she tells me it's a protocol. Then the part I couldn't believe was when the guy showed up and opened the car the restaurant wanted me to pay for his service. I spoke to the manager and he wanted me to pay the guy and that he was going to give me a number to call so I could claim the money back. The waitress that called ended up paying the guy and of course I left without eating. The manager never apologized. The way this should have been handled was to tell me that my car got locked but not to worrie, we will take care of this. Stay seated and enjoy your meal. I will...
Read moreI was eager to try this place, but I must say the food was rather average. What truly left me disappointed was the service. I believe there’s a lot of room for improvement in terms of customer service. I dined with my husband and 2-year-old and was surprised to find that there was no kid-friendly menu. Additionally, the server seemed unhappy with my stroller and asked me to close it. I refused because there was nowhere to put my purse or diaper bag since we were seated at a tiny table for two, and our plates barely fit. Unfortunately, the server didn’t make any effort to assist us in this situation.
It’s worth noting that the server did pack my toddler’s quesadilla to free up some space on our table, but the bag to go had no place to go, so we ended up putting it in the stroller the server wanted me to close (ironic, right?). We contemplated not leaving a tip, but I suppose we’re just too nice. All in all, it’s probably best to save your money and...
