Blalock Seafood & Specialty Gulf Shores — Restaurant in Gulf Shores

I love Blalock's Seafood in Gulf Shores. The food is fresh, and it has unique sides, spices and dips selection to choose from. Yesterday I went to get some shrimp and asked where the shrimp came from. One lady said key West, and another one said they didn't know. With all the controversary in this country about US companies buying shrimp from overseas, and thus shutting down our own seafood companies a customer should be able to know when the seafood they are buying is not from this country. There should be a sign up at any location that sells or serves seafood as to where they were captured. I urge everyone to support this cause. At the present time our shrimpers are gradually selling their boats and losing one of the more important industries...

I love coming back home to visit family and my grandfather requested that we pick up some steamed shrimp from Blalock’s for dinner. It was actually the first time I had been in there after unknowingly passing it for years. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We got 1.3lbs of medium-sized shrimp. They offered to steam them for us, they asked whether or not we wanted them cooled or left hot, and they seasoned them spicy for us! They had tons of seasonings, sauces, and crackers inside as well. Also, I liked that the prices were clearly displayed instead of just saying “market price.” I look forward to picking up some cooled, steamed shrimp to take back to Birmingham to share! What a cool spot!...

Been to a couple different Blalock markets in the gulf shores area, always had super friendly service from the workers. Always! Prices seem fair, and...well, everytime I've grilled up the fish/seafood bought from them it's been delicious. A few years ago, it seems like they had more fish on the counter, I know I bought Amberjack there before. This year Cobia was featured, but the selection of available fish steaks seemed less. Maybe it was the time if year I visited (late June). I'm positive that the next time I'm in Gulf Shores, I'll spend more money...
