Yumm Twister & Ice Cream — Restaurant in Gulf Shores

I've heard good things about this new place, Yumm Twisted Cake Factory, just across from Hope cheesecake & the Greek church back in the corner of that plaza with the coffee shop & donut place. 229 E 20th Ave, Ste 8, Gulf Shores. What a great find, it's crazy delish, unique and the fresh flavors are soooooo good. This is my new favorite place for sweet treats. My Fruity- licious is a handcrafted sugar glazed twister cone filled creamy vanilla gelato w/fresh fruit, Nutella, coconut flakes & it was amazing!!!

Damitri is one of the partners who took care of us and he is very pleasant, friendly and knows his stuff. He is from Muldovia and his partner is from Romania & they've traveled internationally, of course, as well as across the US & have samples lots of local & regional culinary delights. Now that they have chosen our little corner of paradise & they decided to bring something unique and delicious to Gulf Shores and they've certainly nailed it!

Here's the overview, they bake these cool looking and very tasty pastry shells that make cakes, cones and vessels for stuffing everything from gelato to fruit to tuna, yep you can even get hot dogs or gyros in these pastry shells, mmmmm good!! We loved our first time in, really delicious!

Our second trip in tonight was every bit as delightful as the first. Once again Damitri greeted us with a big smile & welcome while thanking us for returning, very nice.

Tonight my sweetheart decided on the Sophisticated. It's a handcrafted sugar glazed twister cone filled with creamy vanilla gelato Nutella spread, gold sprinkles, dark chocolate thin and caramel sauce. Last time she had the Rainbow, a handcrafted sugar glazed twister cone filled with creamy vanilla gelato and sweet cream cheese spread, rainbow sprinkles, mini marshmallows & strawberry sauce.

I decided on the Oreo Cone which is a handcrafted sugar glazed twister cone filled with Belgian chocolate and vanilla swirl gelato, Nutella spread, Oreo crumbles, and a big Oreo cookie and chocolate sauce it's crazy delicious & theirs lots of Oreo crumbles & grapes in the bottom. Last time I had the Fruity- licious, a handcrafted sugar glazed twister cone filled with creamy vanilla gelato fresh fruit Nutella spread, coconut flakes and topped with even more fruit and strawberry sauce. He stuffs grapes and all kinds of cool stuff in the bottom of the account it is amazingly good!

We have yet to try the Black Forest, a handcrafted sugar glazed twist a cone filled with Belgian chocolate gelato Cherry preserves sweet cream cheese spread, chocolate curls and Cherry sauce. That's my try next time.

If it's not sweets you're interested in they also offer a bacon & cheese twister, two types of twister dogs and a tuna dip cone which is made with smoked tuna dip, lettuce, cherry tomatoes and pickled red onions. I'm looking forward to trying their new Gyro in a open twist cone, it looks yummy.

I also watched him make my freshly baked coconut twister cake with sweet cream cheese to go. That made be for breakfast with my coffee. You can choose from 5 baked to order (5-7 miniutes) cake shells (Sugar glaze, Walnuts, coconut, Oreo or rainbow sprinkles) and then add either peanut butter, Nutella or sweet cream cheese.

Bottom line: The gelato is terrific, everything is fresh from top to bottom & everything is just yummy!! Highly recommended!!

Such a fun (and delicious) gelato adventure! The whole vibe was super cute — totally Instagram-worthy with the way everything was styled. My boyfriend and I shared the strawberry special and the s’mores special, and honestly, both were yummy!

The cones were a surprise too — we’re from Wisconsin, and we’d never seen anything like them before! They were thicker than your usual cone, super soft, and rolled in sugar, kind of like a churro-meets-cone situation (aka dreamy). The gelato itself was creamy, flavorful, and loaded up with the cutest toppings.

We went around 7 PM, walked right in, and got our treats without any wait. If you’re nearby, definitely swing by and treat yourself. I do wish they had some cute decor or something to make their place more colorful and fun (so that it matches what they’re selling - and for cute photos). Also there was one amazing employee who was pretty much carrying the other employees, and was polite and made sure we were happy. The other employees seemed like they didn’t want to be there. In this regard the c.service could’ve been better.

Either way...

I cannot express how delicious this cone is. The " cheap soft serve" reviews made me wonder but I am so glad I went anyways. The customer service is very point blank but the man attending us was kind, just quiet. I loved my "sophisticated" cone. I exchanged the gold sprinkles for dark chocolate flakes and the caramel for coffee syrup. My oh my, it was to die for. I bought the "tiramisu" one for Mom. The chocolate flavor is delectable! I liked it more than the vanilla. Now onto the cone. It is so SOFT and melt in your mouth amazing! It isn't deathly sweet either and compliments the flavors of the ice cream so well. Mine had Nutella on it and the taste was spectacular.

I want to stop by again before we leave but they open at noon, which is kind of late. Regardless, this is an excellent spot and a way better value than most other ice cream places in Gulf Shores. If you only eat ONE sweet treat, it should be either a cone from here or a beignet from King...
