Great spot to grab a quick lunch!! The atmosphere was very homey with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside because it was too hot to sit outside. We would have loved to sit outside, if they had better airflow during the hot August heat in south Alabama. But sitting inside was very cool and comfortable. The staff were absolutely great! Very friendly and helpful. When you arrive, you will walk up to the counter and order your food. They give you a number to place on the table and then they bring your food out to you. For a restaurant that does not have wait staff, these ladies were by far some of the best hostess because they all wanted to make sure the food was good and that we had everything we needed. Now let’s talk about the food. We ordered the kids cheeseburger which was plenty of food for an adult. You will need to take your plate the the condiments station if you want any extras. Not a problem. The burgers tasted great!! But, mine was a little undercooked to my liking. So next time, I will be sure to ask them to cook it well done. The homemade fries were ok. I am not sure if they cook them in house but it would be a good idea to add salt when they come out of the cooker. If they are not made in house then having other chips to choose from would have been a nice option. All in all, our experience was great and we will...
Read moreYou order at the front, they hand you a number, then bring your food to you. You get your own drinks, which is sort of nice. I would say 3 stars because it was fairly overpriced for the underwhelming quality of the food. I had the Brisket Tacos (YUM), my only complaint here is there wasn’t much in the tacos, the ratios were off due to this (too much tortilla and not enough filling). Especially because they were $17… My mom had the rattlesnake salad ($13). It was unfortunately extremely bitter, needed something sweet in there to offset the bitterness of the arugula and sour-esque dressing. We then went up and ordered something else because the tacos, while not bad in taste, weren’t all that filling and you’ve already heard about our experience with the salad. We chose to order the $8 Mac and cheese. It was milk with a tint of yellow, some breadcrumbs thrown on top, and very under seasoned. The bowl was luckily a good size and we walked away sort of satisfied in appetite but by far in taste and quality. All of this to say, the staff was amazing! So kind and polite. The place is very clean, good bathrooms, nice atmosphere. You could go on a date or bring your family here and play games and shop a little. The food was just overall disappointing, and overpriced or just not matching the price point for...
Read moreReally enjoyed everything about our lunch stop here! The food was so shockingly good (if you've had state park food in any state, it's not often worth raving over). I had shrimp tacos and my husband had a grilled chicken sandwich with house made chips. The three tacos had at least three plump perfectly cooked shrimp with gorgeous pickled onions, generous amounts of guac and a tangy lime crema. These were street style, double wrapped in tasty corn tortillas. I was satiated by just those tacos. My husband's chicken sandwich was perfectly grilled and flavorful on a fluffy brioche bun with house made pickles. But the real star were the chips! I cannot recommend these enough. Perfectly crispy, no soggy or soft middles. So good!
Staff were super friendly and attentive, clearing off tables as soon as they were vacated.
There are games inside and outside. Jenga on the screened in porch, as well as a giant connect four game.
Outside is beautiful with shady trees over bean bag toss games, a ping pong table, and horseshoes. Plus there are lovely little seating areas around fire pits. We played a few rounds of bean bag toss before heading out for a bike ride.
Can't recommend this restaurant enough! It's away from the tourist hustle and bustle and wrapped in a quiet nature setting. The whole park is...
