Me and my husband went here for Valentine's Day! the food was wonderful and service was okay.🤔 This was our first time at this restaurant, so we were not familiar with the menu at all and our waiter didn't seem to offer any drink or menu item suggestions. A matter of fact, he didn't seem to even greet us or make it a point to speak to us at all, other then asking "Are you ready to order?". Also it took quite some time for him to even come over to our table or even acknowledge us. He took our drink order, I got a carona because I didn't feel like getting a headache later from drinking wine or champagne. My husband stuck to water because he was driving that night. It seems that our waiters judgmental, assuming attitude started right from the beginning at the point of ordering drinks. Not to mention it already seemed like he was dancing around coming over to our table in the first place. We decided to go with the $80 per couple Valentine's day special because he seemed as if he didn't want to take our order or spend any more time at our table than he had to. Everything tasted delicious and food was placed on the table in a timely order and fashion. However, I feel that because we did chose the special, our waiter treated us as if we didn't belong or we couldn't afford to be there or we weren't going to be able to tip him properly. This was uncomfortable and uninviting and kinda assuming on his behalf. His snide attitude and the lack of friendliness towards us kinda put a damper on our night that originally started off with all smiles. About half way through our appetizer we noticed what appeared to be a Manager walking around greeting and speaking to everyone. Then when he got to our table I smiled at him but he didn't smile back at us or speak to us but instead skipped over us and went to the next table to greet and speak to them. At that point I asked my husband if I had something in my teeth or on my face he said "No and Why?" I replied "because he looked at me as if I did." So when I seen him speaking and greeting our friends across the room I thought well maybe hes only speaking to people he knows but that turned out not to be the case because when we asked our friends if they knew him, they stated "No, he was just checking on us to make sure we were enjoying our night and had everything we needed." So at that point I could only assume he was being judgmental about my carona sitting on the table versus a fancy glass or bottle of champagne. I say that because I seen him look at the beer on the table right before he skipped over us and went to the table next to us. Thank goodness the host and busser was friendly and willing to answer any questions. I only wish our waiter would have been just as friendly as the Host and Busser that night. At the end of our meal we decided to take our desserts to-go because we were stuffed. Our waiter placed them on the table and said he would be back with a bag for us to put them in. He took the book with the bill to cash us out and when he came back he never brought our bag for our to-go items. Instead he put the checkbook back on the table and walked off, not even saying goodbye or anything After that we didn't see him again, so the busser ended up getting us our to-go bag. I'm sure that our waiter felt kinda dumb after we left him a good tip, despite the way he treated us, as if we didn't matter or belong...! Hopefully he won't be so judgmental about younger couples who visit for the first time! All in all we enjoyed our night out away from kids and our delicious meal. Even though our waiter was a not welcoming and the Manager smiled and greeted almost everyone except us and we lost hundreds in the casino that night. If we decided to give it another try later in the future, we'll definitely be making sure that we request a different waiter or waitress.! Other than that, it's a beautiful restaurant and wonderful food, that was cooked to...
Read moreI brought my wife to Carter Green at Island View for a belated Mother’s Day dinner. While the decor of the restaurant itself was nice, the service and that food itself left much to be desired. All of the staff in the restaurant seemed rushed (and honestly felt like they didn’t want to be there) and did not go out of their way to make our visit personable at all. The server failed to even ask my wife what side she wanted with her dinner, and it wasn’t until I reminded her that she did not order one that we had to flag the server down and let him know. I order the Filet au Poivre with mashed potatoes, and my wife had the Bone-In Veal Chop with the sweet potato. While the steak itself was okayish it was way too peppery for my taste. I have had au Poivre style steak at other restaurants so I know how it is supposed to be, but they could have backed off on the pepper a little. My wife’s veal chop wasn’t all that great. The sides were normal, nothing spectacular about them. We had the Crème Brulee for dessert, which was okay. At the end of the meal we left the restaurant rather disappointed, especially given the occasion for which I brought my wife there for. We have been to the majority of fine dining restaurants offered in the casinos on the Gulf Coast, and I would rank this restaurant on the...
Read moreThe steaks at Carter Green were cooked to perfection, achieving that ideal balance of tenderness and juiciness. Each bite was a delightful burst of flavor, leaving us wanting more. The chefs truly showcased their expertise in preparing these delectable cuts of meat. One dish that truly stood out was the Cajun pasta. It was nothing short of extraordinary. The blend of spices and the rich, creamy sauce created a symphony of flavors that danced on our taste buds. However, what truly elevated our dining experience was our server, Mike. His welcoming personality and deep, amazing voice added an extra layer of charm to the already delightful ambiance of the steakhouse. Mike's attentiveness and knowledge of the menu made us feel taken care of throughout the evening. He truly created the perfect steakhouse atmosphere, making our dining experience unforgettable. Overall, I highly recommend Carter Green to anyone in Gulfport, Mississippi, who appreciates fine dining and exceptional steaks. The perfectly cooked steaks, the beyond delicious Cajun pasta, and the impeccable service provided by Mike all combined to create a truly memorable...
