THIS is a SPECTACULARLY TASTY buffet, and THE BEST buffet I've encountered in a LONG time! I came for LUNCH on a Friday, June 11, 2021. What separates this buffet from all others ARE the TASTY, FLAVORFUL dishes. Red Beans & Rice is GREAT! The BBQ pork RIBS ARE FANTASTIC!! EXCELLENT quality meat, and GREAT BBQ sauce! In the Asian flavors station, the Sesame chicken has a nice tangy sauce, and my girlfriend LOVES the Stir-Fried Beef selection there, right near to the Sesame Chicken. The loaded mashed potatoes casserole is rich & creamy, and the dirty rice has good seasoning, too, but the Red Beans & Rice was my favorite seasoned dish! They also serve roast beef & glazed ham & sausage at lunch. Now, for the desserts, NOBODY -- I mean NOBODY along the MS Gulf coast BEATS their desserts. YOU MUST try the bananas foster, which is sliced bananas that you serve over a pound cake! It is a WARM, RUM GRAVY that the bananas are in and the pound cake you pour over soaks up the RICH, caramelized RUM GRAVY!! SUPER SPECIAL!! Next, ALSO try the BREAD PUDDING, and the WARM WHISKEY GRAVY sauce you pour over the bread pudding. This IS the BEST Bread Pudding & whiskey sauce YOU WILL EVER HAVE!! If I were you, I'd skip the cakes & cookies, (that you can get anywhere else), and go RIGHT to these SPECIAL HEAVENLY one-of-a-kind desserts as the "Bananas Foster" with warm RUM caramel gravy, and the Bread Pudding with warm, rich Whiskey sauce!! If that's still not suiting your fancy, then go on over to the GELATOS!! There is a Tiramisu gelato ice cream and Pistachio gelato ice cream that are special. ("What's Tiramisu?") This is a MILD COFFEE flavored ice cream that has a buttery taste to it. The Pistachio has some hint of ALMOND flavoring. A key hint to soaking up the flavors of the gelatos ice cream are to let them melt a little, and the flavors will be more tasty! I cannot emphasize ENOUGH the HIGH QUALITY of this Island View Casino Buffet!!! It is NOTHING like the bland, tasteless Golden Corral, and NOTHING like the bland, tasteless Cracker Barrel. Comparing this Island View Buffet with others: -- I compared going over to the Infinity buffet at Treasure Bay, which that is TINY with very little selection and old-looking food, and I compared with the Palace Buffet, which had better selection than Infinity Buffet at Treasure Bay. However, the buffet at Palace Casino looked like cafeteria food, with no seasoning to the peas or corn, and no creative dishes, as what Island View Buffet has, here! Here... at this Island View Casino Buffet, TASTE ROCKS!!! And these are MEMORABLE dishes to try! There were a few weaknesses in the Italian section of the buffet: Although, the chicken parmesan looks good, the flavor on that one was kinda weak. However, the Southern Comfort foods are rock solid, and the Asian flavors station are rock-solid as well. And they have the GREATEST dessert selections!! Make CERTAIN & SURE you have the: RIBS, & the seasoned flavorful, Red Beans and Rice, Bananas Foster, and Bread Pudding with whiskey sauce! I DARE say NO ONE beats them in these 4 dishes! I was sure to go out of my way to TELL the chef and restaurant manager what a FINE, GREAT job they are doing with so many tasty dishes. And the weekday lunch buffet price is reasonable, at $12.99, and that INCLUDES a soda, too! Go get to Island View's Buffet, and you'll have NO reason to go to any other buffet! This buffet is BETTER than all the cruise lines buffets! See the attached pictures, I took. One note: You'll have to leave the kids at home, as this is an adults-only buffet. All entering, must be over the age of...
Read moreThree of us came just for the New Years Day buffet because we heard it was great. It was okay. Some things were really good like the boiled shrimp, beef steak, turkey, cake desserts, funnel cake, Gelato, cranberry sauce were on spot. The hopping John was awesome. The corn on the cob was good, as was the cabbage, & sliced potatoes. The shrimp salad, crab salad and Cesar salad were great. But other items were lacking- mashed potatoes, the cabbage was wimpy, the sweet potatoes had a weird taste,, the Italian green beans were over cooked and limp, the flank steak lacked in flavor, the potato salad used sweet pickles, the pickled beets were too sweet. The pizza was just okay. The ham was over salted but otherwise would have been tasty. So food gets 3 star s because a place like this can do much better! There was a very good atmosphere considering the full house of patrons. We had very good, friendly, attentive service. The bathrooms were very clean and kept up. There were enough good items to come...
Read moreI visited on a Wednesday early evening. I sampled a few Asian dishes all of which were Luke warm at best, however it wasn't heavily salted which I appreciated. The salad bar was the usual buffet fare, nothing outstanding but edible. I also sampled a small portion of Ravoli, I dug deep to get the bit closest to the bottom of the pan, again barely even warm. The two things that I most enjoyed were the wonderful hot yeast rolls and the lemon cream dessert cake. For the price I found it to be underwhelming. If the food had been hot then maybe my review would have been more positive. For a Wednesday evening, which I am assuming is not a very busy night, the food needs to be cooked in much smaller quantities to be edible. Food that is cooked must be held at a 140 degrees f. This was certainly not the case for the...
