The Diner — Restaurant in Gulfport

My wife and I ate supper here on June 8, 2024….we sat at the counter and were greeted by “What do you want?” within 10 seconds of sitting down. The young lady never identified herself, never gave us a second to look at the menu. When we ordered our drinks, she slammed them in front of us, then took our order. I had the dinner special and my wife had the all day breakfast . Mine came with a side salad, which our waitress retrieved out of a cooler, then turned around to us and asked, “which one of you had the salad?” Literally didn’t remember 45 seconds after taking our order…for the next 10 minutes we listened to all of the people behind the counter complaining about everything, from a fight they got into with their auntie, to the difference in body building steroids, to events that happened to them years ago as waiters and waitresses. We watched as my wife’s order was dying under a heat lamp that featured hovering flies, while mine took forever. A random man saw my wife’s food and finally handed it to her. The bacon was soggy, the potatoes covered in oil…it was literally hard for her to eat. When mine came out, the cabbage was cold, the pork chops fried beyond recognition…I asked my wife if she wanted to send them both back and her reply was “there’s no telling what they’ll do to our food if we re-order.” And I agreed with her. We choked down about a third of our meals, asked for to-go boxes, then left, throwing the rest away later on. We have been coming to this casino for several years, but the restaurants are going down hill very quickly…next time, we will pack our own food and eat in the room…the managers of the food/restaurants need replaced or retrained by someone...

It was a late afternoon on a Wednesday, which is normally not busy and tonight was no difference. Everything was great in the beginning. We were guided to our table with menus. The waitress took our drink orders and returned with them and took our food orders. It started going down hill after that. The food arrived and looked delicious. We started eating and found several issues with the food. My husband opened his burger and found it was recooked. When I opened my Philly e I found my chipped meat hard around the edges of the meat which was a clear sign of being reheated. There was minimum cheese, onion and bell peppers. We decided to not make a scene and ate half the food. As we started eating we found no napkins. Our waitress was elsewhere, so we tried getting the attention of another waitress with no luck. I finally walked out the door and approached a person who gave me two. Husband ate burger and I ate the meat that wasn't chard. The bun was better without the meat. I took a picture but don't know how to attach. Bottom line we paid $56.00 for food, drink, and took. We have eaten here twice and was disappointed each time. This time we felt we would write a...

Yikes. Maybe they were having a bad day but be warned, this diner is not so great. Starts with a long line to get in because they refuse to move any tables to accommodate two tops. The tables are set for four but could easily be turned into 2 two tops. There was some sign about social distancing being the reason why they could not move the tables. (Hello, It’s 2025.) The meal comes with a salad. Seems the salad was put together last week. The lettuce was wilted and the cucumbers were slimy. My “rare” steak tidbits were raw. Mostly everything on my plate and my husbands plate was cold. The gravy for the chicken fried chicken was cold. The fries were cold, the bread was warm-ish. The corn was flavorless. Thankfully we had two $10 food vouchers. Normally we eat at the buffet which we absolutely LOVE but thought we would try something different and totally regret it. We really like this casino and will continue coming back but maybe management should take a closer look...
