I have eaten food at El Taco Larry 4 times. Yesterday, July 24th I had lunch with a friend there and was greeted by a waiter and was asked what I wanted to drink. “Water no ice, and no lemon.” I repeated my request twice. A waitress brought out the drinks. My friend ordered Ice Tea with lemon, I got iced water with lemon. No big deal. Our entrée were taken and I mentioned to our sever that we will be ordering desserts later on. The item I ordered was too spicy to continue eating. When I finally got attention that I needed something, I requested a plate of plain fettuccine pasta to add to my dish. I could tell the sever was not completely understanding my order. I reworded what I first said. No sauce on the fettuccine. Just plain. Somewhat slow getting the pasta delivered. The restaurant was not busy with customers dining in, while we were there. Pasta arrived and it had sauce on it. I asked for another plate of plain pasta. I told her I would pay for both orders. I hate to see food go to waste. Once food is served to a customer and if the order is not correct, by law the food is to be brought back to the kitchen and thrown away. I am a cook and Serve Safe Certified, so I am knowledgeable with rules and regulations of food business and operations. To get to the point, the service was mediocre, and the second place of pasta had a slimy textured. Ugh! No apologies given, waitress never came back to take our dessert orders. My friend and I got up, and stood in front of the dessert showcase. The cakes were not listed on the dessert menu. Wow! Cost of food, two alcohol drinks, etc. $65 plus change. I had to waved to my waitress to come get the money and return my change. She was eating her meal, sitting in eye view from my table. Left her an 18% tip regardless. Servers need to be more efficient with understanding what the customers want and keep an eye on their customers. Twice I put my hand up in the air to get...
Read moreIt was one of the worst lunch experiences I've ever had. I ordered lunch plus 2 mexican style soup dishes to go. Instructed the server to bring my togo orders with my food and check so I could get back to work. The Tomali was dry but good. The serving size was good. The organization of service was horrendous. The server was terrible. First, after sitting there for 35 minutes, the server says the kitchen lost my ticket. Then, after another 30 minutes, the order comes in pieces. Then, after another 30 minutes of waiting on my check and togo order the server brings me two of the same soup, neither of them being the pazoli which I raved to him about being surprised that they serve it. Instead, I got 2 of the same soup that he recommended. They also came out of the kitchen window 15 minutes apart. Wait, there's more... 20 minutes after the 3rd time, I asked for togo containers and the check he delivered the togo order with no containers and no check. So my politeness fades a bit here. I asked, is it free? I still don't have a check, plus I was planning to have my leftovers in containers to be prepared to leave as soon as my togo order came out, which I requested to come out with my meal with check. He tells me that I pay at the counter. I go to the counter, wait behind 3 other people with a screwed up order, and another frustrated couple, just to have the cashier ask me for my check! You know the one I requested 3 times. I wondered, is this a prank? I watched him call over our server, who stumbled through, telling him that they had lost the check AGAIN. Okay, pay for the order, tip him anyway, leave late for work, and to never return. Go home. Tell the wife I found a place that served Pazoli, but we are never going there, but I brought her some. She opens both containers, and neither is PAZOLI! The food wasn't bad. The...
Read moreSo we ended up at taco larry on a Monday afternoon. We had originally intended to go to Tortillleria Morelos, bc thier online menu looked awesome!! But they were closed, though their website clearly showed they open from 8am to 9pm. So we decided to give the taco larry a try. I will admit. The name was kind of off putting at first, doesn't really make you think "comida authentico" My husband is Hispanic. So we are Def Mexican Food snobs. So we went to taco larry. Yall!! I was blown away at hope good this food was!! At that time of the afternoon, we were the only customers in the place. We started with queso, which we ate with the disappointingly watery table salsa. I ordered a michelada (see photos) and my husband was happy to see they had Victoria beer, in bottles. I didn't see any taps at the bar, so I dont think they even offer draft beer, no big deal bc the food!! First our server brought out my elote cup, I opted for the elote in a cup instead of on the traditional corn cob bc I wanted my daughter to taste it and she has braces. The elote was delicious, fresh crisp corn and they were NOT stingy with the cheese! I knew before we sat down that I wanted tacos de birria. So I ordered 3, and asked for one taco lengua (tongue tacos are a favorite of mine) all the meat was moist, well seasoned and delicious! My husband went for the California burrito (which is probably the most gringo thing on the entire menu🤣) and our daughter ordered the happy plate with chicken. We ate until we were miserable, and we're still taking home enough leftovers for another meal each. So I'm woman enough to admit I was dead wrong about el taco larry, it was really really good!! Give stars!! Can't...
