One of my coworkers recommended this place and since my wife and I were in the area we decided to stop by and try it out.
We were greeted and seated right away. Our waitress took our drink orders as soon as we were seated. Within minutes she was back with our drinks and took our appetizer order which were their Siam chicken wings. She left to go ahead and out the order in and returned shortly after to take our dinner order. We decided to go with their large order of chicken Tom kha gai soup and the Drunken pork noodles.
The Siam chicken wings were lightly batter with some kind of corn starch / curry flavored mixture. The coating was think at all and as soon as you take a bite into the chicken wings you can tell from the hint of curry it was there. Pretty good flavor but, for the cost of $7.99 and 8 pieces the wings should be larger in size or maybe give more pieces? Or lower the price on them? In one of my photos you can see the chicken wing was as small at the soup bowl which was pretty small.
The large chicken Tom kha gai came out and when we saw the size of it we kind of thought that's pretty small for a family style serving that cost $11.99. I guess we were just expecting more from the price and from our experiences at other asian restaurants. Usually you would get a large quart size container of rice to go with an Asian meal because us asians sure do love rice! However, when the rice came out with the soup it more the size of a single individual serving. I would easily eat 3 or 4 bowls of rice without a problem. But, back to the soup which had decent flavor and bad for Thai place here in the Gulfport area. Again we wish the portion size was more family style then individual size.
The Drunken pork noodles was actually a decent serving and my wife loved all the veggie ingredients that were in it. We were also pleased that the noodles weren't all mushy from being overcooked. They consistency and texture of the noodles made the dish much better then what we were expecting. We asked for level one heat since my wife can't eat spicy foods like we use to and it was not over powering at all to the point you can't enjoy the dish.
All in all the visit as good. The flavor of the food was good for this area. However, the portion size needs to be more family style portions if you intent for people to...
Read moreWe have been so curious about this place and finally took the time to try it out. We were not disappointed! I like what they have done to make it more appealing inside; the previous establishment was short on decor, and now, there has been some effort put in to make it more inviting and just happier! As for the food: My husband had the calamari for starters, and I had the potstickers (I chose steamed, not fried). They were both delicious. For our meals, I talked him into sharing two entrees I had read rave reviews about -- the drunken noodles, and the twice-cooked chicken. We absolutely loved the drunken noodles, and the spice level was just how we like it (we asked for "2", and it had just the little kick that we like!) We ate every grain of sticky rice that came with the dish on the side, too! The twice-cooked chicken was quite tasty, as well, and I loved the texture of the breading on the chicken, and the quantity of veggies and cashews. I do have to say that it was a little saltier than I would have preferred, but all in all, it was a wonderful dish, too. We were more than happy with the size of the portions, and in fact had to get 2 boxes to take leftovers home! We will definitely be back to try some of the other intriguing dishes on the menu, and next time, I will get my beloved Thai coffee that I was too full to...
Read moreSiam Thai Cuisine is a silent, deadly ninja lurking in the shadows of North Gulfport, waiting to perform an unexpected spinning crescent kick to your mouth. It is very soft spoken and under-stated. You think you're in for a gentle tour of Thai food and you tell the server, "I'll have three stars" which you feel is pretty conservative. And then WHAMMO, the ninja does a round off back handspring out of the darkness as you take your first bite and your entire brain lights up with surprise and delight!
This is POWERFUL food, man! You could light a small city with it! It packs more punch than a Ali vs Frazier fight! It'll knock you straight on your unprepared butt and laugh at you while you cry and ask for more water. "Do you have milk? I NEED MILK!" You baby. You picked the wrong place to test your soft taste buds.
It is that good. Fresh and clean and so flavorful you'll check to see if your passport is valid so you can move to Thailand and be surrounded by awesomeness like this on a full time basis.
The Thai Dumplings (appetizer) is spectacular and they should make a po-boy out of those things. Wonderfully unique flavor. I highly recommend the Pineapple Fried Rice and the Pad Se Ew portion was mountainous.
Enjoyed the service and the dialed-back atmosphere. You come here for the heat of the food, not the...
