I ride the bus to Gunni for errands regularly, and Mocha's is always my final stop before catching the bus back up the valley. I usually get a tea latte of some sort and they're always pleasing. In the summer I get the red bull refresher drink, which is a can of red bull, a banana and a fruit (mango, pineapple or another choice, I forget what it is- i like the mango) which sounds weird but is strangely good and I find myself craving them. The drip coffee is okay but it's almost free if you use your own cup, so no complaints- it gets the job done. I haven't really tried the espresso drinks there or the food, so I don't have an opinion about those items. I see people remarking on slow service, but during busy times I've seen three people working there, tops. It' not easy to serve lobby guests as well as those in the drive through as fast as everyone would like during a rush. That's life, and as a culinary professional, I think they're doing just fine. They always have good attitudes and are courteous, AND they've never messed up my drink. In terms of the environment inside, it's comfortable and they have beaucoup outlets to plug in your phone, etc. It's not a fancy, elitist place, it's very chill and accessible for a cup of something warm (or cold- the cold brew is solid) and nice, a comfy place to sit for a while (it's just so dang convenient because the bus stop is right there). I'm happy to spend my money there and I skip starbucks in city market EVERY TIME in...
Read moreMy favorite of the coffee shops in Gunnison!
Their coffee is excellent and their smoothies are delicious. I have never considered myself a smoothie person but I have given theirs a try and thoroughly enjoyed every sip. The star of the show for me, though, is their bagel sandwiches—you can tell they really centered these on the food menu because they nailed the proportions of the sandwiches. Too often when I get a bagel sandwich it's too wet, too packed with ingredients, too sparse on the ingredients, too bland, whatever. Mochas' bagel sandwiches are perfect in every way for my palate.
It's often a bit busy as there is a drive-thru, an indoor counter (but only one register), and people call in orders semi regularly, at least when I've been. But the wait for your food and drinks is rarely long.
They have guest wifi and a nice seating area for work/study. Unlike many busy cafes with large food menus and drivethrus, it actually feels like a welcoming spot to spend a few hours working on a laptop or something—not someplace you are supposed to leave as soon as you have...
Read moreWe stopped here on the way to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park on Thurs, Oct 15th at around noon. They have a drive through, which was really nice due to covid. The workers we saw were wearing masks, which made us feel they took safety seriously. This place has some vegan options, which is why we stopped here. We both got the Super Veggie sandwich with hummus and chai lattes with oat milk. The woman working the drive through noticed we ordered vegan items and suggested the non-dairy chip option to us, which was very perceptive of her. She even noticed we had a dog and gave us a free milk bone treat! The sandwiches were very tasty and even toasted per our request. Service was fast (no one in front of us). We would definitely stop here again! Very great service and friendly workers!👍 This made our stop in Gunnison...
