We spontaneously decided to come visit Gunnison last minute this past weekend. The front desk employee, Ahkil, was checking someone in before I walked in. He kindly acknowledged me, was quick and efficient with the previous guest and helped me immediately after. I really appreciated the warm urgency. Didn’t have to stand around waiting like other hotels. The second day we were there, it started raining and we were going to watch the football game. I asked the front desk lady, Dana, for a couple black trash bags. Not only was she more than willing to grant them, she even helped me make sleeves for my makeshift poncho! It was awesome. We booked a “king superior” room. Although it was small (didn’t come to gunnison to hang in the room all day anyway), it was very clean, modern, comfortable bed, big clean bathroom with the pretty back light mirrors. I attached a picture to reference room size. The bedding was originally neat and straight, I had just moved my bags off the bed for the picture. There is also a TV, desk & chair, a nightstand, and lounge chair just out of frame. Parking is very convenient, they even let us leave our boat in the lot when not in use. We also felt very safe and had no issue with noisy neighbors. There’s a Mcdonald’s, Arby’s, Double Dragon Chinese, Pizza, gas stations and more with in walking distance. Thank you to Ahkil and Dana for such a wonderful stay!

Ali at the front desk was wonderful! She was quick, clear, and friendly. I don't know if she saw my handicapped tag in my car or was just being thoughtful, but she assigned me a room right next to an entry door (which I really appreciate.) PRICE: exceptional. They matched the Hotwire price with no hesitation and with a smile. The only thing "cheap" about the room was the toilet paper. 🤷 CLEANLINESS: Everything was clean (floors, sheets, surfaces, etc.) tidy, and easy to find. CONVENIENCE: plenty of regular plugs, four USB ports on clock. Room has coffee maker, microwave, mini-fridge (no freezer), desk, two chairs, hangars, iron & board, and hair dryer. Hotel has wifi, small office area (computer, printer, etc.) hot breakfast, and vending machines. Desk clerk has basic need items like toothbrush/toothpaste for free if you forget something, and menus from local restaurants. BREAKFAST: Eggs, bacon, biscuits, hash browns (not pictured, I left too early) muffins, bagels, breads, fruits, cereals, yogurt, juices, coffee, hot chocolate.

Be sure to specify “pet friendly rooms” or else they will charge you $150 if you bring a pet. Staff and booking sites should be more upfront about this despite labeling themselves as a pet friendly hotel. Also, before management comes in saying “it was in the the paperwork, etc.,” yeah man you got us. But if you advertise yourself as pet friendly, you should be 1000% clear on which rooms are and aren’t. Oh and there was a crack in the shower and no remote in the room.

I have stayed at this motel two or three nights a year for the past five or six years. I appreciate the upgrades that have been made the past year. The location is one of the best for my work trips to the area. I have three suggestions. The room we stayed in on September 26 was very good -- quiet, comfortable, and of course clean and secure. I want you to add two grab bars in the bathtub/shower. And, when the budget and the schedule permit I hope you will put the larger size toilets in. I'm 6'4" and 235 pounds. I have a loss of feeling from my ankles to the bottoms of my feet and i find it a challenge to safely stand still in a shower on the wet, sloped tub bottom and not be unsteady on my feet. And, because of my size, toilets with the compact design are too low and too short (front to back) to comfortably to match my "sitting size." My last request is a bigger one and I understand ownership may not be inclined to consider it. I'd like to see an elevator installed to service those going to second floor rooms. It would take sacrificing a ground floor room and the room above it. It was a challenge for us going up and down the stairs with our stuff and I don't think we'll try that again. I know we were there during one of your "high season" rate periods. I was amazed at the prices. Only a few years ago we'd be there and the room was about $90 for both of us. It was nearly three times that this year. In any case, I hope to spend two or three nights there again in 2025. I hope some of my suggestions can be implemented. ...

I deleted a previous review that suggested this hotel fraudulently double charged my card. It was a misunderstanding. However, the customer service my wife experienced in solving this misunderstanding was extremely rude, condescending, and unprofessional and left a bad taste in our mouth which will likely linger and prevent us from ever wanting to recommend or use this hotel in the future.

Suggestion to the owner. Hire representatives who don’t constantly interrupt, are completely dismissive of your concerns, and condescendingly say things like “everybody would know that” when explaining a situation that was tricky and complicated.

Last of all, if you want to avoid this confusion in the future, when sending an email to authorize spending for two rooms, the total amount only shows for one room and it isn’t until the bottom of the email that it is mentioned the price was “per room”. Nobody mentioned that during booking, and it is hidden in the email. While it may not be inherently malicious to do it that way, it did cause a great deal of confusion for us.

While the initial stay went well enough, the bad customer service in helping to resolve the stressful situation is ultimately what we...
