DO NOT WORK HERE!!! The restaurant business is like none other. Restaurants are the only businesses that will work someone even though that person isn't clocked in. I worked here for one day without pay. The owner expected me to keep working for free day after day until she decided if I was worthy enough for her little $9 an hour job. I don't work for free. First of all I want to get paid for the time I'm putting in, and second, it's illegal. When I asked the owner if she was going to pay me and how she was going to pay me, she emailed me paperwork so I had to go to the library and print out my own paperwork. I mailed in the paperwork because I don't want to see this owner ever again. I have emailed her and asked her if she plans on paying me for the day I worked and she said her accountant has my check. Okay? Why does your accountant have it? Why is it not with you so I can come get it? Why is it not in the mail on the way to my house if I can't come get it and why am I not allowed to come get it? Why am I not being paid on the same day as your employees? I'm sure many people have had great experiences with this business owner but I did not and I'm just putting awareness out there. Do not work for free. You can find a job that will value you enough to clock you in on your first day and most places in Marshall county pay more than this lady pays anyway. When I decided to no longer work for this owner I asked when I would get paid and she said "This is not McDonald's so you don't get paid on the same day". I don't think McDonald's pays daily but I do know they pay more so I wish I had got a job at McDonald's and not this Cafe 🤣🤣🤣. Everyone have a great day and don't...
Read moreAdorable cafe inside a nice gift shop (Bakers on Main). I came here last week for a late lunch after working in Guntersville. Although they were less than an hour out from closing, the friendly staff was still more than willing to serve me something tasty!
They have your typical southern cafe type foods (salads, simple sandwiches, pimento cheese, nice desserts) and some creative specials. There's a nice patio out front as well as indoor seating with nice views of downtown. And of course, there are plenty of nice gifts to browse while you wait for your food to come out.
I ordered a strawberry citrus salad and an iced brownie for dessert later. I really wanted to grab some strawberry pretzel salad out of the cooler, but sadly the lady in front of me in line ordered the last three pieces. Sad :(
The drinks are self-serve but the employees brought my food out to me. I was super hot from a long day of being outside, so I really enjoyed their sweet tea! It was very refreshing.
My salad was very yummy! I got it with a vinaigrette that was bright, punchy, and was a perfect match to the sweet and sour fruits in the salad. Two large multigrain crackers added some yummy crunch. There was one piece of orange that tasted a little off and a few bites heavy on the crumbled feta, but overall I really enjoyed the salad and would order it again. I also liked that you could order it in a small or large portion. Husband and I also enjoyed the iced brownie for dessert later that evening.
I look forward to coming in again sometime when I'm in...
Read moreThe small Cafe has great unique sandwiches. The first thing is that the Cafe connects inside to Cosignment booths, wineshop, and barbershop so you wander around while you wait for your food. The menu is salad, soups, sandwiches and pannis. When you go to the counter to order , you can, grab a drink in the cooler and a dessert on the counter in containers.
Several sandwiches feature pimento cheese so I had the pepper jelly pimento cheese panni with bacon and my wife had the downtown delight which was a salad, fruit and small sandwich.
The main plates are between $7-$9 but there are things above and below. Besides the soft drinks from the cooler they offer tea, fruit drinks and even an adult fruit drink which isn't on the menu so you have to ask. They also have frozen snacks in a freezer to the left of the counter that also wasn't on the menu so look around...
