I would not recommend this spot... Where do I begin?! As our reservation was made it was indicated that we would be celebrating a birthday. We were charged a $25 fee for bringing in a cake without prior notice of the fee. Mind you, we indicated we were celebrating a birthday when the reservation was made and there was no mention of a fee to bring in a cake. The cake was visible the entire time we ate, multiple references were made to the birthday girl in front of the staff, and there no mention of a fee, nor is there any mention of a fee on the menu or website. About 15 min after we ordered, we had to request that our drinks be brought to our table prior to our food. Seems pretty standard that that should be the first guests l receive after ordering. I requested a high chair for my son and the waitress said ok. After 10 min, I had to ask again only to be informed that the restaurant, which seats about 100 people, only owned 2 and they were both occupied. I had to wait 25 min for a high chair for my son. He sat on my lap the first 7 min of his meal as mine sat getting cold. I suggested to the brother of the owner that they invest in more high chairs. Not only was I sitting with a toddler on my lap, so were others. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience he ignored my suggestion. Last, we were charged a gratuity fee for a large party. The issue here is that no where on any of their menus does it state this fee. I brought this to the owner's attention and she indicated that this is pretty standard for restaurants to do this. Yes, this is standard for restaurants to do this WHEN IT IS PRINTED ON THEIR MENUS. I demanded that the amount be refunded because I hadn't authorized the amount. It was after the owner and I debated. Mind you, I would've tipped beyond the gratuity percentage.
I typically am eager to support black owned businesses, but I won't support this one any longer. Bad service and horrible...
Read moreI've come here a few times with a friend, and the relatively low review rating baffles me. This is an extremely friendly bar, it's got great vibe and that general dive bar category decor that many of us love, and the woman who was bartending was absolutely wonderful: friendly, attentive, and an engaging conversationalist who knows how to read and talk with people as individuals. The most important element of course is that each time we left, we were talking about wanting to come back. I would say that especially with the recent decline in service at the infamous Straphanger, and the sad demise of Bergen Brick Oven (which was more for the pizza but did also sport a great bar), giving Lenora's a try made it easily and comfortably step in as my favorite bar in Hackensack. There's a lot of competition in the general area, but I really wish I had discovered this place sooner, it has certainly been around. If there's anything I wish different about it, it's that I wish it was open a bit earlier, but honestly that's not enough of an issue to knock it down from five stars. If you're looking for a nice spot to have a drink in a great atmosphere, and if you happen to be a connoisseur of dive bars like myself, you're definitely going to want to come here, and you're definitely going to want to come back. Highly recommended,...
Read moreLenoras is a solid local bar. It's a good spot to catch up with friends after work or or a weekend. It's a place to go for drinks but not a meal. The bartenders are friendly and service is generally good.
There are two pool tables, live music on weekends and drinks are reasonably priced. There are usually good draft beer choices but it can be a little pricey compared to bottles or cans of beer. There are usually a few bar specials and while there isn't a full menu you can order bar pies if you need a...
