Frank's Trattoria (Hackettstown) — Restaurant in Hackettstown

My friend and I went in for dinner and sat at a table and had a lovely waiter. He is the only reason this review is getting any stars. As my friend and I went to go pay for our check we asked for it to be split half way. Mean while our check was 26.26 simple math if you as me but the boss whipped out a calculator, but that’s besides the point. The man who seemed to be in charge said that he could do that for us. There was a young boy who was working the register who seemed to be new. The man was on a personal phone call for a very long time as the younger boy tried to get his attention for help. The man simply ignored him and continued on the phone. The man typed in to the screen and my friend payed in cash. The man stayed on his phone while the younger boy said you are good, knowing I had still not payed I stayed there with my card out waiting, the man finally got off the phone and nastily and loudly said to my friend “how much money did you give him” and kept repeating the question as my friend was trying to say she had payed the amount in cash. The man then starts to get very agitated and angry and begins to discuss with the young boy about what happened, the young boy had no idea what was going on which is to be expected bc he seemed new and the man was ZERO HELP. The man began to get very angry with us and very rude implying we were trying to walk out with out paying. I asked what was the issue and he just was replying super nasty to us. The young boy seemed to get super nervous bc he didn’t know why this man was getting so angry and it put us in a very uncomfortable situation. At the end of the interaction he tried to say so everything is good and try to be nice as if he was not in the wrong which I was not having. As someone who works in the food industry aswell I was disgusted with how this man acted to customers aswell as his employees. After YEARS of occasional take out and dine in, I ordered what was supposed to be a grilled chicken breast Alfredo entree served over angel hair with peas and broccoli.

Instead, I got dry, hard, tiny bits of chicken in a very greasy and oily butter sauce.

Lettuce in my salad was brown, cucumber was slimy, the tomato had two rot marks clearly shown placed on top of salad but was still sent out with my dinner. Even the bread was hard and dry.

I called the restaurant to let them know right away. I spoke to the manager Nestor, he passed me on to someone else, she said my manager is very busy right now, he will call you back. (She was very apologetic and nice.) He did not bother calling me back so I called the next day, I told him I wanted to send pictures of everything I took from my dinner the night before.

I sent them over and he said it looks like you got chicken from what we would put in a wrap. To me, it doesn’t even look like something I would put in a wrap for my customers either. Didn’t bother mentioning anything to me about the bread, the salad or the buttery yellow sauce on my pasta, which was definitely not an Alfredo sauce, said he’d give me a discount on my next purchase. $22 out the window, wasted time, didn’t enjoy my dinner, Took a few bites of my dinner before I realized this is horrifically greasy and nothing like an Alfredo sauce, Chicken was dry and hard.

Decided not to cook on a Friday night and just wanted some good take out.

Updated 12/2022 ⭐⭐⭐ Seated promptly, only 3 tables taken so not busy at all, drinks came quick, order taken, food came pretty quick, my cheese steak with mushroom and sauce sandwich didn't come with sauce as ordered (waitress mistake), Bill came... $1 for "food item" and $1 for "extra sauce", I questioned with register guy, "food item" removed (waitress mistake), Now the menu says onion and mushroom or peppers and onion. There's no line item for just mushroom so I think putting a little sauce on it is probably about the same price as getting peppers or onions on it but I was charged a dollar for the sauce. A good business like Mama's in town wouldn't worry about the Dollar!!! Entire time while we are eating the two waitresses are in the back using loud voices and swear words. When I go out to dinner I kind of expect a nice atmosphere. They blew that tonight. I'm being nice by giving you three stars instead of two.
