El Eden Latin Restaurant — Restaurant in Hagerstown

Hidden Gem. This little tiny shopping strip is an oasis of comfort and joy. El Eden is the kind of place that reminds me of a little country place where lots of family hang out and talk shop. Only El Eden is the Elsavodorian version. I have ordered many items from the menu and am never disappointed. Watch out. This little place can look closed when it's open. It's a secret door of sorts. Inside, I find a similar experience every time I visit. Service with a smile, hot satisfying food, reasonable prices. I feel like I've stepped into a family's private kitchen in this place. Music I'm not familiar with plays in the background. Language I can't understand spoken fluently by both patrons and waitresses. Names of food I've maybe never heard of printed on the menus. Dishes I'm not familiar with mixed in with those I've ordered many times like tacos, fajitas, and quesadilla. I love this place. Authentic food. Great secret. El Eden's food is disgusting. The drive over to "tacos Carlitos Authentic Mexican Food," located in the Hagerstown Premium Outlets food court is worth it; otherwise, just go to Subway a couple doors down, or Five Guys near Weis Market.

Four-day-later update: I think it's no coincidence that within 24 hours after eating at El Eden, I experienced diarrhea. It's going on day three, and it's just now clearing up. Warning to white people, whom only speak English: You'll probably find you'll also be discriminated against the way I was. The bitter cashier refused to even try to understand or communicate in English with me, then had me wait over 20 minutes for something that should have taken five minutes to prepare. Giving 3 stars because I love pupusas and this place sells them but sad part about this restaurant is the poor customer service. I eat at this establishment quite often because of the pupusas but Everytime I have ordered at this place it takes close to 45 mins to get any food. Super slow service and the server/cashier is very unfriendly. I definitely recommend the pupusas And tacos Other than that, food is quite disappointing. I ordered tamales once and they had hair in the dough ugh not sure why but I returned them and she began pulling the dark black hair out of it. Ordered the beef stew & flavor was very odd.
