I chose to come here because I was craving a Cuban sandwich, and a Google search lead me here. I've also been to their other location to pick up a GrubHub order awhile back and I remembered it smelling good.
The Berry Agua Fresca was alright. A little tart. The sweet tea was above average. Not too sweet like some places.
The first food item we ordered were the Bao Sliders and they were THE BEST thing we had. The pork is perfectly marinated, tender, and the fresh cucumber and veggies balance out the richness perfectly. The Bao bun is a perfect soft & light texture. 11/10 will highly recommend. My girlfriend usually hates cucumber and thinks cilantro tastes like soap, but she agrees with my rating. I just wish they gave you more of them.
I ordered the Cuban Panini with the truffle fries. The truffle fries were not worth it. They tasted almost exactly like their regular fries. It just has a light coating of truffle oil & tiny truffle flakes that you cannot really taste over the salt & potato. The Cuban Panini was really good and satisfied my craving. But I wouldn't say it compares to Cuban sandwiches I had in Florida, so if that's what you're looking for I'd temper your expectation. However the ciabatta was perfectly crispy on the outside & soft / chewy on the inside. I feel like there wasn't quite enough swiss cheese, and definitely not enough mustard for my taste, the pulled pork was tender & juicy, but I feel it was lacking seasoning. The ham was high quality and the pickles were exactly right. 7.5/10
My girlfriend ordered the Caesar Salad Wrap with regular fries. I only had a bite, but my girlfriend described like so: The chicken was tender and perfectly grilled, however it didn't have enough Caesar dressing. She gave it 6.5/10.
The atmosphere was good. The place was well decorated & clean.
The service was good, however our server was also the bar tender & the bar was BUSY. We had to wait a bit to get our check. I don't think that this will be much of an issue to others in the future.
Over all the menu has a lot of food that sounds delicious, but definitely try the Bao Sliders. The food we ordered wasn't the absolute best we ever had, but it was fantastic, and the potential is there. We will be returning and trying...
Read moreI stumbled upon this hidden gem of a taco restaurant during a weekend road trip, and boy, was I in for a treat! This delightful little taco haven, tucked away in the heart of a relatively rural area, immediately transported me back to the vibrant taco scenes of Austin, Texas, and Washington, DC. It was truly an unforgettable experience!
From the moment I stepped inside, I could feel the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and made me feel right at home. The rustic yet cozy decor added to the charm of the place, creating the perfect ambiance for a memorable dining experience.
Now, let's talk about the food - oh my goodness, it was simply phenomenal! The menu was full of mouthwatering options, showcasing a diverse array of traditional and innovative taco creations. Each bite was a burst of flavor, and I could tell that the ingredients were fresh and thoughtfully sourced.
One of the highlights was their signature Brazilian beef taco. The perfectly grilled, tender beef combined with the chef's secret blend of spices was an absolute delight. The shrimp tacos were equally impressive, featuring a light, crispy batter and topped with a zesty slaw.
They did have some semi-keto options on the menu as well which is pretty advanced for a taco place!
I must also commend the outstanding service. The staff was not only attentive but also happy to share their passion for their culinary creations, making sure that each customer left with a smile and a satisfied belly.
In conclusion, if you find yourself driving through this rural area, don't miss the chance to stop by this taco haven. It's a true gem that stands out even among the best taco restaurants in Austin and Washington DC. You won't be disappointed - I know I'll be making detours just to revisit this wonderful spot in the future....
Read moreWent on a Thursday evening. Got a booth then ordered a couple of beers. Went for a large prosciutto pizza and their short rib burger with fries. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The first iteration of the pizza was meatless. We asked after this and the pizza was taken away - at this time, my partner asked for a glass of water without ice (she is not an ice lover). A few minutes later our server returned with the same pizza, re (over) cooked with chunks of smoked ham on top - certainly not prosciutto. He also brought a glass of water half full of ice. During this time, I ate my burger and fries, which accounts for the stars on this review - it was decent and prepared as I had ordered. The second take on the pizza was removed after we brought the pseudo-prosciutto to the server's attention. Again she waited until the third pizza arrived, looking much the same as the second with chunks of ham (see pictures). Not what we consider a true thinly sliced ham. She ate a couple of slices and we boxed the rest and left. Three things of note here: 1. We were told that the 'chef' was new on the job. 2. This review is for the Hagerstown East (new) branch of Cafe Del Sol. We have always had excellent food and service at the other location on Salem Ave. and decided to give this place a try given it was on our way home that evening. 3. We were not charged for the pizza after what we experienced. That was worth a star. We also prefer the ambiance of the place on Salem Ave. The lighting in the new place is a bit much but the fixtures and set up are fine. Time will tell if we choose to patronize...
