Safron made our daughter's wedding cake, and also catered her bridal shower and post wedding brunch. Al (the owner) has the best bakery in Hagerstown! His quiet helpful demeanor makes working with him a joy. For our daughter's wedding he made the traditional cake, assorted miniature fruit tarts, cheesecakes, cupcakes and brownies, and delivered them to the venue and set them up. Our guests had compliment after compliment.
The food he provided for her bridal shower went way beyond expectation. So I naturally asked him if he could do the post wedding brunch. Again, compliment after compliment from our guests. At first I wanted to micro manage both events but I let him decide the exact details. I asked for sandwiches and desserts for the shower and breakfast items for the brunch. At the shower he made sandwiches, ham, turkey, roast beef, gluten free, vegetarian, plus plus plus! For the brunch he suggested quiches, pastries, bagels, fruits etc. He made it all less stressful and I'm so glad he was there to help. Wonderful service, food, prices and person!...
Read moreMy mother ordered a cake from this bakery for my canceraversary. We asked for it to have a GREEN or PURPLE ribbon. I am a lymphoma survivor. When we picked it up it had a giant PINK ribbon and writing in PINK. It was also covered in small PINK RIBBONS sprinkles. My mother was distraught. She told them it was supposed to be green, and asked for them to fix it and they told her no. I'm not sure why they would do this and then refuse to fix it. My mom and sister attempted to scrape off what they could and fixed the writing and ribbon themselves but they couldn't get all the pink ribbon sprinkles off so the cake was still covered in pink ribbons.
Any cancer survivor will tell you how terrible this feels. It seems like the only cancer anyone cares about is breast cancer and my family was trying to celebrate me and my remission status and we had to do so with a cake for someone else basically. And then for the bakery to just say no, they wouldn't fix it.
Super disappointing and I can't even really explain how disappointed I am having to watch my mom almost...
Read moreFirst and foremost the last photo is the email that was sent as, well as the photo of the cake I requested.
Upon receiving my cake, I was immediately disappointed on how it looked. I ordered a heart-shaped almond cake with raspberry filling. To start strong there was an eyelash on my cake, the bows were sloppy, the heart wasn’t even heart shaped, and the cursive was definitely rushed (the bakery section at Walmart would’ve done better). I called the person (Al) who did my cake and I felt dismissed, I felt as he cared more about defending his ego, then wanting to care for customer satisfaction. He did tell me that if I returned the cake, I can have my money back, But I already taste tested the cake, after I told tell him I cared more about what it tasted like, than the visual aspect, But it’s still the principle, that I was not in fact 100% satisfied on how it looked and never received an apology. I do not recommend ordering a cake from them unless you want a basic sheet cake with no intricate details, and you’re looking for taste more...
