Our group ordered several sandwiches from San Benito House. One was so meager and small compared to the rest that we surely thought it was a mistake. When we brought this concern to the woman at the cashier, she refused to resolve our issue. Instead, rudely lecturing that the olive walnut bread size is much smaller and insisting this is the amount of filling you always get because the meat is measured out. Literally, this sandwich was smaller than a woman’s palm - a child-size sandwich hardly worth paying $8+! I get that the bread is small, it makes sense that the meat is pre-portioned, but maybe consider an extra tomato or lettuce when clearly this sandwich was lacking compared to the others? My sandwich had 2 tomatoes when my friend’s only had 1! We left shocked by the refusal to address our concerns. This woman stood her ground and I’m compelled to write this review to tell you not to come here despite the reviews. You can’t trust the quality - it’s hit or miss - nor can you trust management to resolve...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at the San Benito House Garden Café in Half Moon Bay, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! 🌸
From the moment I walked in, I was charmed by the cozy and inviting atmosphere. The garden setting is simply beautiful, with lush greenery and vibrant flowers creating a serene and relaxing environment. It's the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a meal.
The food was fantastic! I ordered the roasted beef sandwich on olive walnut bread, and it was absolutely mouthwatering. The beef was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the unique and tasty bread. We also ordered a hazy IPA, which was the perfect refreshing accompaniment to our meal. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh.
Overall, the San Benito House Garden Café is a gem in Half Moon Bay. Whether you're looking for a peaceful place to enjoy a meal or a charming spot to catch up with friends, this café is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and try more of their...

When I asked the manager why this was the case, instead of recognizing the obvious size difference of the sandwiches, she stayed obstinate about that's how the sandwiches were meant to be and each slice is weighed out. Really had issues with how the manager did not listen to our concerns, and made a big deal out of holding strong. Absolutely no reason to pay $8 for a really small half sandwich.
Sep 2023: Excellent sandwiches and soup, basis being fresh great bread. Got the olive walnut with pastrami (Boars head) with a butternut squash soup. The side wheat bread was also...
