Spice Me Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Half Moon Bay

After a long drive to Half Moon Bay, we were looking for a plack to pickup dinner an Spice Me popped up on Yelp and looked like it had good reviews.

It was close to our AirBnb and is pretty centrally located to Half Moon Bay. I couldn't find a website, but luckily their menu was clear in the pictures on Yelp! My husband and I eat Thai often, and anytime we try a new place we order our "go to-s" which is Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles, both with Tofu. They had a lot of spring roll options as well, so I opted for the Fresh Veggie spring rolls because I always love the peanut sauce that usually comes with them. And of course I couldn't resist a thai iced tea :) It was easy to order on the phone and they said everything would be ready in just 15 minutes so I headed out promptly.

The restaurant was easy to find and I was happy to see parking right out front. I went on a Sat night around 8pm and there was plenty of street parking spots available. The restaurant was not busy, so if we had wanted to dine in we would have been able to sit at a table right away. The order was already ready when I arrived, and paying at the register was quick and straight forward.

The thai iced tea tasted good, it had a pretty strong tea flavor and I was picking up on one ingredient that was heavier than the rest but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. The fresh veggie spring rolls were tasty, lots of greens in them so plenty of crunch. I was a little skeptical of the peanut sauce at first because it was so orange, but it was very good! I would happily eat that all day.

The pad thai was also good, pretty standard and I probably would have liked a slightly stronger taste for the sauce, but the tofu tasted very good and I liked that they included a lemon. My husband's drunken noodle was not as traditional as we normally received, it had tomatoes and lettuce included. He also said the sauce was a little bland for him.

Edited:05/12/2023 9:34 pm As usual we came here to have food. The food was good and served quickly. There was a lady at the register who came back to demand us for the tip in a very arrogant tone. She was extremely insulting and annoyed about how the waiter showed be given more money.

I am shocked to see such behavior where customers are yelled upon and humiliated. The tip is provided to the waiters as an extra token of appreciation to their service not as a basic means of income itself. This is a message to all the waiters working here that if you aren’t getting paid atleast minimum wage or over then please look for a new workplace you deserve.

Yes, a good customer service is as worthy as good food.

Amazing Thai food restaurant at half moon bay! It’s a small place but totally worth your expectations for a good Thai food. Clean place and healthy staff. Open till 9:30pm. Best of all they have a huge vegetarian menu. We came here for dinner. I could see 4 tables order before us. Waited for ~ 1 hour and no food served. After waiting 30 minutes, they still had been working for the 1st and 2nd table. My son was very hungry and cried so I came to ask if we can have order served quickly or if they have not started working in our order we would like to cancel it. The staff was rude and unfriendly said they had started working in our order and the food was coming. They cooked based on the order. After waiting for 5-10 more minutes, they still served the 1st and 2nd tables, and haven't started serving the 3rd, 4th and our order 5th one. So how long should we have to waited? The staffs are unprofessional and rude. If you have a lot of time, you can give it a try. If you have small kids, it is not a place for your family. This place is not kid friendly.
