Kelly's Cone Connection — Restaurant in Hamden

2/23/22 Kelly's Kone offers the seemingly odd combination of soups and/or ice cream in the same building that houses the Glenwood Drive-In. Weird, but it works for some reason. I usually place my dinner order on the Glenwood side, then while waiting for it to be prepared, I'll saunter on over to Kelly's Kone to get a cup of whatever soups they're offering that day. Today, while having lunch with my sister, we decided to save room for an ice cream from Kelly's Kone. So right after finishing lunch at the Glenwood, we walked the 10-15 paces through the open mutual wall the two businesses share, to sample the ice cream for the first time. A good decision! We both selected a cup with two scoops of toasted almond. I d have ordered mine one scoop each of that & chocolate chip ice cream, but they don't offer it. What's THAT about??? Anyway, sis and I agreed that the ice cream was really excellent quality and creamy, not too hard or soft, and a nice amount of toasted almond flavor. One star fell off the truck when the server said they don't have chocolate chip ice cream......my favorite flavor. Other than that, I'll not hesitate to try another flavor...

Best. Waffle. Cones. Ever. I usually just go there for a cone, no ice cream. A single cone, dipped in chocolate ganache and covered with sprinkles, is under $1.00 and it's the sugar equivalent of 3 chocolate dipped pizzelles. Very delicate, light, crunchy. Their batter is different from any other place I've gotten them. A few days ago I went there to try their ice cream. Got a scoop of coffee icecream in a bowl covered with heath bar crunch. Very flavorful, rich-tasting, creamy consistency. Not quite enough coffee for my taste (maybe they could try adding espresso instead of regular coffee?) but I don't go there for the ice cream anyway, as...

First time here, as we are newly relocated. i could tell right away what he would order - banana oreo 2 scoops. He was a happy camper! I am very judgemental when it comes to anything maple flavored. But I also love chocolate, I order a two scoop waffles cone bottom layer was chocolate Carmel cookie dough, topped with maple walnut ice cream. I loved the the maple walnut ice cream!
