Waste of time/terrible service……Visiting Hamilton for the Gun Show Saturday we were hungry for some soup. We chose to drive from the fairgrounds across town to the Coffee Cup- one of my personal favorites growing up. However I wish we would never have bothered. Our service was deplorable. First, we stood in the entryway by the “wait to be seated sign” in plain view. Employees where everywhere and kept walking by, but never looked at us or acknowledged us. After about a 10 min. wait there, along with a large build up of customers behind us, we were told “we could just pick a table.” I walked in to the front, noting two unbused available booths. I stood and waited another 5 minutes for our table to be cleared, then proceeded to move dishes from one booth to the other. Once I had cleared my own table, we sat down. Our waitress finally arrived- again no smile, eye contact, or greeting, but did spray and wipe down our table and inquired about bringing us something to drink. We both replied water and menus please. It took just a few minutes to decide what we wanted to order and then again we waited and waited. When our waitress did finally again return, she had placemats and silverware which she set and then again inquired about drinks. I replied “I just want lemon tea and a small malt o meal.” With that she put her hand and arm out- right in my face with fingers splayed out “just your drinks,” she replied rudely. It was with that gesture of “hey shut up” that we got up a left. I have never been treated so poorly in a restaraunt. I loved the Coffee Cup growing up, but my husband had never been and he will never go again- neither will I. We headed to BJs where the service was friendly, welcoming and above expectation, enjoying delicious Tomatoe Soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. We paid our bill of $20ish dollars leaving a $5 cash tip on the table for the staff....
Read moreWe went to the Coffee Cup for lunch one day last month. We deliberately waited until the lunch rush was over because on our previous visits the service was on the slow side. When we arrived, there were only three or four tables with customers at them. We were seated right away and given menus and ice water. That's where the service ended. We decided on lunch within about three minutes, and we stacked our menus on the end of the table in the classic "we're ready to order" maneuver. No one came. One waitress was half-heartedly running a vacuum on the filthy carpet no more than six feet away. Two others were joking around, talking with each other, and dancing around behind the lunch counter. We tried to catch their attention, but it felt as if they were deliberately ignoring us. After about 15 minutes of this, we got up to leave. After we were out of our booth and beginning to walk toward the door, a waitress wearing a cheesy grin came up and asked what she could get us. We told her she was too late and that we were leaving. We will NEVER go to this place again, and I strongly recommend no one else does, at least not if they want a decent...

This place is HOME. When I need comfort food this is where I come. Food is made from scratch, and I think people forget that sometimes. The cooks can only go so fast when making stuff from scratch, so if you want FAST then go a couple blocks down to McDonald’s.
Please stop being rude to waitstaff, and employees because you are impatient. I have been witnessing more and more of this in the last year. This place has been serving LOCALS since long before I was born. I am tired of seeing our small businesses in this town being treated poorly by people who are from out of state. I have been coming here my ENTIRE life and I have never had a bad meal.
Please be considerate when coming here, and treat other how you want to be treated.
The Coffee Cup is the #1 breakfast in the valley, and everyone knows it. The pies are my favorite late night snack, and the soups are...
