Pros: Fresh bread usually baked well. The quiche is yummy. Tasty sandwiches with a reasonable amount of veggies on them and a decent amount of meat. It has been a while since I received a "gas station sandwich" from them. (You know, where all the ingredients are piled in the middle then the sandwich is cut in half to make it LOOK awesome, but more than half the bread is empty and you feel ripped off and like a fool for ever buying it in the first place.) Tasty sandwiches... did I say that already? Helpful staff.
Cons: They don't always stock the ingredients on their menu (e.g. sprouts may or may not be available on any given day). The "Special" sandwich and coffee of the day is only special by use of the word, there is no special pricing for the specials, and they are normally on the menu anyway; it is just a featured sandwich they want you to buy. Now you can avoid the uncomfortable conversation so many people have already had with the staff. Price. Your $12.00 sandwich will come with a hand filled bag of plain chips and not even a drink. Not for days when you are in a hurry; I have had it take more than an hour for them to make my sandwich after I have ordered it. If you have all day, go here. Though they have gotten faster, today one smart person going through the drive through placed her order for pick up in an hour and a half with very explicit instructions for them to make it and refrigerate it so it would be ready for her lunch break. This is a brilliant solution, and seemed to actually work. Some grumpy staff. Parking is limited.
Today, my sandwich was delicious. The avocado was ripe and yummy (a treat in Montana). The bread was slightly undercooked and doughy, but it was also moist. Super dense bread, perfect consistency for a cake pop. The ingredients were evenly distributed on the sandwich. It only took 8 minutes from placing my order to food in hand (early lunch at 11am before a rush).
They have gotten much better than in the past, and the flavor is good. If you have the time, give them a try. If your mood is not bulletproof, or you are in a hurry, I would suggest something else for...
Read more3/13/13' I recently spoke with the owner, Anna at The Red Rooster regarding catering an event for me in Hamilton. I explained to Anna that I was new to town & wanted her to cater for 60ppl (local medical community/doctors and staff) and told her I wanted to stay within a smaller budget per person-- Anna, laughed at me-- she said there was no way they could accomodate that budget and continued laughing. She never provided a reason as to why I should spend more money per person etc. She practically continued laughing and then hung up. I called the next place on my list, The Silk Road and spoke with the owner, Sam. I had the same conversation with him, except in this conversation Sam explained to me that they have a higher quality of food and service and this is why I should spend a little mroe money per person and so on. With that being said I booked a 2,500.00 catering event w/The Silk Road for 60ppl in the Hamilton valley. It literally PAYS to take the time with people and BE KIND. Anna- you catch more...
Read moreUpdate 11/9/2021. The price of the breakfast sandwich went from $8 to $11. and the past two times they forgot the egg. Service is not as friendly as I’d like to see. I try to be very forgiving and understanding but there’s been something wrong with my orders as of late. The biggest reason I have changed my 5 star review into a 1 star that I don’t like how political this business makes things. And after the “peaceful protest” this business is organized today at the elementary school about vaccines, I will never be returning. I am heartbroken about this. I understand the business owner is sticking up for what she believes in and that’s cool, but I think using your business as a platform for your political preferences is sloppy and careless. I feel betrayed after all the years of business Ive given to this establishment. They have alienated me and my family as we have...
