Richard's has upped their game! They have corrected some past issues! I took friend who came in from out of town who had never been. I was prepared for disappointment.
The last time I went a few years ago, everything was lukewarm and the bread was not hot. It was raw and it wasn't toasted. It just wasn't good at all... But this time! WOOOW
I don't know if it's new management or if they got enough complaints, or if the new staff has decided to up the game because Hamilton is certainly getting more traffic lately...
But, whatever it is... I got the same steak sandwich again I got a few years ago and this time it was fabulous! The cashier actually asked me some preferences so I could build it better. This hasn't happened before. She told me about the different sauces and described them.
I started by picking the sauce specialty Richards sauce and we went through the toppings. She was more than happy to ask the cook to grill my onions for me. I had other questions about what cheese they use she told me about the cheese. It's good to treat someone like they've never been there before. The goal should be to read a customer and be able to tell when they have questions, describe menu items and upsell whenever possible.
Anyway, the steak was amazing! sausage was so hot I couldn't even eat it right away! The bread was toasted and perfect. The onions were Fab. The entire sandwich was 70 times better than it was last time. Food obviously tastes better when it's cared for and it's hot when served.
I enjoyed it so much that I took two more of them home to my roommates we had all but pretty much given up on our hometown favorite. We've all been born and raised in the area, including our kids! We will start going back again!!
The food was out quick. We wanted to sit next to the main Street windows but they still have that area blocked off. Not sure why... That's really my only complaint. A few tables needed wiped off, but that's...
Read moreI ordered online and did curb pickup. They used to be good but the food quality was awful and order correctness was wrong and toppings were extremely skimpy and all the steak hoagies were not topped as ordered individually. Buns were all overbaked and dry. I ordered 1with grlilled lite onions, 1 lite onion, 1 regular onions. All 3 had grilled & barely any onions. 1 was double mushroom with barely any mushrooms, 1 was pizza sauce added barely any, cheese was like 2 tablespoons per sandwich, all buns overbaked, no garlic butter on the bun at all like there used to be. Sauces I ordered for calzones and paid for I only received 1 of the 2 extra ones I ordered. One calzone my brother said wasn't very tasty at all. We were totally disappointed in the order. This was at the main street location. The last I had at other locations was way better except that they didn't add as many onions as they used to which is my favorite part and I feel makes the sandwich. I used to gove them a 10 for the steak hoagies but these ones only get a 4 at best. Very disapointed in them. Probably won't order there again ever unless it goes back to the way it was. Don't skimp on toppings and change a good sandwich. I'd rather they raise prices a little instead. Don't change a great sandwich to an awful one. I'm sadly...
Read moreThe steak sandwich is not like it use to be it's like they don't care about it anymore the cost is going up for one that has cheese to it and it's a shame when you look for the cheese and you can't found it because there's not much on it they need to make the customer happy not their pocketbook.--I found this, they trying to say that the steak sandwich had not changed lol but it has, the employees use to take sides of beef and grind it up and made their meat from that and the cheese to from big blocks to it in their basement to do this SO what happen RICHARD GOT CHEAP ON US. Response from the owner 3 years ago Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. We have seen several comments with similar sentiment. We apologize for the inconsistency that you have experienced and want to assure you that we haven't made any changes to the original Richards Steak Sandwich you know and love (created in 1956). With 5 locations, it isn't easy to monitor how each person prepares each sandwich, so we train often and encourage customers to order extra onions and pickles as needed, at no charge. We hope you will continue to visit us when you are in...
