My husband and I were in town for a work trip and wanted l tacos for lunch. Start to finish, we had a weird experience. The hostess was rude and not welcoming at all. When we sat down, I asked for lemon with my water and was informed that the restaurant with a full bar did not have lemons. My husband went to the men's bathroom which was nearly pitch black and anyone sitting within eyesight of the booth could see directly into the bathroom. This was the same case for the ladies room. We were served tiny cups of bean soup at the start of our meal which was generally weird and did not taste good. The chips were unsalted, the ceviche was bland, and our street tacos were bland and dry, even though we ordered a variety of street tacos, most dripping in juice/grease! When the bill came, we noticed we were charged a total of $6.50 just to sub flour tortillas! They also charged my husband 50 cents more for his tortillas than they did me even though we both got four street tacos each. This was a weird experience, not worth the nearly $60 we paid for the meal. We are confused and disappointed and will not be coming back next time we're in town.

Over the four days I stayed in Hammond LA, I herd, nonstop, “You can’t leave Hammond without trying Tacos and Beer.” I tried on a TacoTuesday, but after seeing a line stretching down the block, I decided to come back Wednesday. No wait this time, and the staff, while shy and quiet, were polite and attentive. Instead of the customary chips and salsa, they serve complementary bean soup, which was surprisingly good. I ordered chips and salsa and four tacos(al pastor and lengua). Thankfully the chips were bottomless because I waited 30 minutes for four tacos! Being from south Texas, my standard for tacos is pretty high and while the lengua was definitely not prepared by an authentic Hispanic momma, the al pastor tacos were delicious and they were all served with a green salsa to write home about. All that being said, probably the best tacos you’re gonna find this far from the border. The atmosphere screams trendy college town, which is a plus for me. I would bring a group of friends back, or maybe a date on a slow night, won’t be returning for a single dining experience. The 30 min wait for four tacos was my only real gripe.

I went 2 days in a row as they had 2 different things I wanted to try. The first day I went I got the big a$$ burrito and it was true to its name. It definitely tasted very good, I got the ground beef as my meat choice. Definitely recommend with the cheese sauce and ask for the jalapeño cream sauce, that sauce is very very good but they do charge a dollar for it. You would think hot sauce would be free or 25 cents, a dollar was a bit excessive for the little bit they give you. My second day I went I got quesabirria tacos and I have ate lot of tacos in my life and all around the US and Mexico and those where horrible I’m sorry but they just didn’t have any flavor whatsoever. I also got 2 street tacos one steak and the other chorizo. The chorizo was very good, had great flavor to it. Now the steak it was definitely overcooked and dry and just nasty.

I would definitely go back and to get that burrito again with that chorizo probably next time. Also keep in mind chips and salsa is not complimentary here as you would see at Mexican restaurants, I believe it was like $4 for chips and salsa.

My waitress the 1st night was very nice and friendly but the guy I had the second night seemed rude. Every time he refilled my drink I would say thank you and he wouldn’t even respond back and say anything and he looked like he didn’t care. At least to me that seems a bit rude. Could have at least acknowledged me and said you’re welcome or no problem or something instead of just ignoring someone saying thank you to you.

I wouldn’t recommend the street tacos at all there. But definitely try the burrito with that jalapeño...

Last night 4/19/2024 was the worst experience I’ve ever had at this restaurant. So we called two days before to see if the restaurant could seat a group of 8 - 10 guest. The young lady said over the phone yes we can seat up to 12 I said ok great I’m coming to celebrate my birthday she said ok awesome let me go ahead & put your name down for your time 7.30 pm. I say ok one of my guest is pregnant and we would need to be inside in some air she says ok we will be sure to seat you at the front table near the entrance. We arrive at the restaurant on time only to find out we would have to wait an hour because our table was given to someone else. I say ok I really like this place so Im going to have a little understanding. We had to get back in line in spot 6 on the waiting list. So that hour eventually turned into a 2 hour wait time. Well when we finally reached the number 1 spot we go in to see how much longer it would be. The host said OMG we just sat someone at you guys table so now I’m pissed, embarrassed for the guest that came to celebrate with me and so on. As we leave we get a call saying we got a table for you I said ok let’s give it a try only to find out the table is outside in the back in the heat. So I’m thinking basically they just sat all us black people outside in the back of the restaurant(slave ship) in the heat. So it took from 7:30pm- 11pm to be seated! HORRIBLE...

I’ve heard they have great food, but we unfortunately didn’t get to enjoy it after we were told a 40 minute wait and they would call us. 50 minutes later with no call & they said our table was being cleaned off. I said we would wait right outside the door while they cleaned it. Next thing we know, someone else is sitting there. When we went in to ask, the owner said they tried to find us earlier, which they didn’t. When asked how much longer it would be for a table of 6 on a busy night, his response was he would just let us know when another table would be ready and to just wait. As someone who worked as a hostess for many years, I know and understand mistakes are made but the owner/manger handled it very poorly. He started pretending to clap with a smile on his face when we said we would go somewhere else. He caught us in the street and said they moved the other people to seat us, which was appreciated he tried to right the wrong. However, he was still acting very immaturely and basically said he moved them because we gave him such a hard time (not because he messed up). We still left as we were very uncomfortable. He was very argumentative, snide, non-apologetic, and sarcastic. His excuse was that he’s a man and is allowed to get upset when another man “challenges” him. Zero business accumen and no understanding of how to provide...
