This was our 2nd time trying this place. We loved it the first time a year ago. This time, well, it was ok. I was slightly disappointed in the "Louisiana Grits" this time. I remembered it having an amazing flavor. The reason I wanted to come back. This time, it seemed bland. I added butter to the grits, which I believe was already mixed in on our first visit. It helped a little. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad. Just not as same level as before. My wife ordered the Veggie Breakfast Burrito and added ham. But they forgot the cheese in it. Told the server, and she took it to the kitchen but came back with some parmigiana in a shaker. Very disappointing. There were some other minor issues, but this is getting too long. Anyway, the food was just ok, the server was nice and the prices were good. We will try a different place next time.

This place is a nice little gem in downtown Hammond. Their fresh orange juice is to die for. Everything we ordered was pretty good. Some items non traditional but still good. I think my breakfast was a little bland when it came to seasoning but they probably have a large senior citizen demographic so I can understand why. Once I brought my food home and added a little extra seasoning, it was pretty good. I didn't love everything about this place but I like it enough to come back. I'm sure there's something on the menu that anyone can fall in love with, you just have to find it.

I had heard a lot of great hype about this place; however, I was a little disappointed. We stopped by on a Saturday morning, around 10. The place was packed, and the staff seemed overwhelmed. It was only 2 of us, but we waited nearly 10 minutes to get our drink order taken. We ordered food at the same time to hopefully speed up the process, but still took 15 or so minutes for basic breakfast Both orders were missing items and just ok in taste. I guess on a slower morning it would be better?

We are from out of town but have eaten here a few times for lunch. We have always been pleased with the sandwiches we have gotten. A local friend said we really needed to go get one of their omelettes. We arrived about 9:50am and they were very busy, however we got seated right away. There was a large school group of kids that took up most of the tables and two booths of adult chaperones. We waited about 10 minutes before anyone came to get our drink order. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette, my husband ordered the sausage and mushroom omelette. Both were very good and we would definitely order them again. I did not care for the potatoes that came with it as they had rosemary on them, but they were nicely cooked. By this time the large group had left and there was a group of 6 that were waiting to be seated and with only 3 wait staff the tables had not been cleared yet. So...one of the ladies waiting to be seated started scraping and stacking plates to help clear two of the tables for her group. When one of the servers tried to stop her she said "we have a plane to catch and we want to eat here!". It's a good place to eat...just be patient. We will...

I work in Hammond and have always wanted to try this restaurant. I was sadly disappointed with what took place when I saw that the waitress put in my order wrong after suggesting I try the shrimp and grits and said I could get a 1/2 plate and add side if I liked. I said definitely and my husband repeated my order as did the waitress. After eating, I noticed I was charged for a full serving not a 1/2 and when I asked her to correct it, she said she turned in the wrong order size and reluctantly went to “fix the price” from $10.99 to $5.99 but came back and had only taken off 39 cents! I always tip very big but noted no tip on the ticket bc the second error and extra $5 amount could stand as the tip. I clearly wrote this on the ticket and totaled it out at $28.59. After it cleared my bank, I saw that they added a $3.00 tip so not only did they not correct the ticket error, but they also gave themselves a tip on top of what I closed the ticket out for knowing full well that I overpaid $5 on a wrong I corrected ticket 👎👎👎 Not a good way to...

Oh my goodness. I just had the best breakfast of my life here at the Yellow Bird Café!!! I got the yellow bird breakfast and the eggs were cooked perfectly...the bacon was absolutely perfect crispness without a spot of grease or raw anywhere on it...the pancakes were better than everybody's grandma's...the breakfast potatoes with a side of their green salsa was amazing (and I'm not really a potato lover). The gentleman who served me (Miguel) provided perfect service. What I want to know is how come nobody ever told me about this place that's been here for like 17 years? Well, as I look around, I realize the ones who know about it are keeping it as a little oasis to themselves. But, by my tastes there is no better breakfast in all of Louisiana (or any of the surrounding states)...and their non-breakfast offerings looked so delicious that now I have to come back and try those too. Well Done Yellow Bird Café. Keep doing what you are doing because it...
