BATTER — Restaurant in Hammond

One of my co workers raved about Batter and I knew I had to visit the bakery myself. The shop was so beautiful! Everything was pink! The employees were very nice when I walked in. I’ve tried several cookies that were included in their weekly cookie collection. The shape of them was really unique, I have not seen cookies in that shape before. Pretty cool! I truly wanted to like these cookies but after making a few trips to this shop and trying these cookies a few times, they aren’t good. The texture and consistency is odd. The cookies fall apart immediately after one bite. They aren’t soft, or intact. The unique flavors of the cookies are not present and if it is, it’s very subtle. I tried the chai latte cookie and couldn’t taste the chai at all. I was left with just a bland sugary taste. I could taste the red velvet in the red velvet Oreo, but it was subtle and the Oreo was dry. I unfortunately wasn’t wowed or blown away. Again really wanted to love these cookies but am disappointed. decent would I go again i doubt it. priced well but my cupcake was indeed dry, so was my s’mores cookie, the chocolate chip cookie was pretty good was dry but would eat again if offered. wouldn’t go out of my way again drove an hour for the cookies but wouldn’t again maybe if i’m in the neighborhood and seen smth good on the menu. other then that dry and not really what i expected. I may stop by another day with my son tho means he loves anything desert and let him try some it definitely seems like a good place to bring your little ones for a little mommy and me time

I have waited a long time to write this review. We have been to Batter at least 25 times since they first opened and given them a fair shake before coming to this conclusion about this business. This is a hit or miss bakery. We have bought and tried everything they make here and out of the 25 times it’s a toss up on whether it will be good or not. You will either walk in and get the best cookie/pastry you have ever eaten and want to tell your friends about it OR you will feel like you just ate a bland tasteless cookie/pastry with no sugar and want your money back. When Batter is good it’s GOOD! But when it’s bad it’s BAD. I hope this owner takes this construction criticism and can work out the kinks but for us I believe it has been our last visit to this business unless I’m feeling like a gambling man and want to press my luck...
