My girlfriend and I walked into Rita's last night at 7:10PM. We actually thought we were walking into Osaka to the left of it but we didn't it was obviously our mistake. We laughed about it and shared this with the bartender. We both said to each other.. what the heck neither of us had ever been there before so we chose to stay and try it out. We sat at two seats at the bar. From that moment it started out immediately bad. It took awhile for the server to notice us. Eventually she came up and asked us if we wanted something to drink. I was ready and ordered. My girlfriend asked if they had an IPA's on draft or in bottles. Nope none. So she choose a drink and the bartender asked if she wanted salt or no salt. She answered with salt. It came without salt around the rim. Mine was fabulous. She asked us if we wanted chips and salsa we said we did and then also asked us if we were ready to order. We were; and ordered fajitas beef and chicken combination. Well after approximately 10 to 15 minutes of waiting for the chips and salsa I had to ask the bartender how are those chips and salsa coming as a hint we hadn't got them yet. Now it is 7:25 PM. We finished our chips and salsa and sat there waiting for our dinner. We then asked for two waters to the bartender. Again no immediate response and 10 minutes later I had to ask one of the waitresses on the floor to get them for us. Now still no meal in front of us. It was approximately 7:57 and I notice that the place was emptying out we still hadn't got our food. I went onto there website and looked at what time they closed. Their website indicated 8PM. I told the waitresses to cancel our order. I told her we would never be back. Her reply to us Well maybe next time you'll grab the right handle to the restaurant you wanted. Absolutely rude and a terrible server. The drinks (2) total was $15. I tip her $3.00. After her last comment to me I think I tipped her...
Read moreUnlike some recent post here which of course leaves out many very important details of how a particular incident began and also leaves very negative posts on every establishment visited, I would like to say I love this place! My family and I have been longtime fans of Little Mexico and now carried on by the family with Rita's and the food remains excellent. Yes, when busy it's sometimes slow to be served, but given the size of the Cantina it is tough to keep up, but they do. While there I often hear people whining about waiting to be seated or PO when they are told the kitchen closes at 9...some people there is just no pleasing. I'm hear to tell you this place is a great local establishment and family run business with great traditional Mexican food and wonderful Margaritas. I also often notice how poorly the wait staff and hostess are treated by customers while there and it's just sad people today are so abrasive and lack the ability to recognize the effort put in to try and make dinner for them and just be nice! Sure, there are options around, but if you're in Hampstead or Sandown and want a good Mexican meal and adult beverage, check out Rita's...the family has been serving the area since the 1970's so you should trust they're doing something right. I think it's more just some people can't say anything nice about anything these days....the same people that don't tip well and don't appreciate the time and effort some do to pack up their dinners and insure it's all perfect before you head home to enjoy it with you families. Everyone needs to start being just a bit nicer to wait staff and hostesses, and think of others maybe before spreading bad and fraudulent reviews all while covering up the entirety of their story. Folks should try Rita's, you'll like it. -Regular...
Read moreJust moved to the area from or of state. Wanted to give this place a try and went on Tuesday night with my son. The waitress was nice and very helpful. But not much of a personality and didn’t really check on us after serving the food. I ordered a special margarita for $13 and I got a martini glass full of ice for a drink. Every other table got margarita glasses. The taste of the drink was great but for the price I expect more than a shot and a half. I ordered tacos and a salad and my son got a plain beef burrito. The ground beef was plain, and when I say plain I really mean no seasoning in the meat not even salt and pepper. It was also drier than Death Valley in the summer. The shredded cheese on my tacos had the consistency and taste of the government cheese we got in school in the 80’s. We ordered fried ice cream to go home with as we were still hungry. I’ve had fried ice cream a various restaurants throughout the country and this is the only place that fried a bowl of dough and scoops the ice cream into the bowl. By the time we got the check and someone to come by and collect the card to pay it was 15 minutes (with ice cream sitting there table). The meal was just over 65 for a margarita shot, two tacos (on taco Tuesday), a side salad, two fried ice creams, two sodas (3.50 a piece) and a chicken finger platter to go (frozen chicken and fries). If the owner does look at these comments, please season the meat and make sure the bartender is aware of the glass they are using...
