My husband and I were driving home from Maine to PA and ended up googling "best breakfast near me." We found Hoaty's and are SO happy we did. The place doesn't look much from the outside, but give it a try. You walk in and feel instantly at home like you are in someone's kitchen sitting with friends waiting for a home cooked breakfast. It smells wonderful! It's very homey, not at all fancy, not new and modern, but so comfortable. I ordered the eggs benny (eggs benedict)... I have to say it was the tastiest eggs benedict I've ever eaten. Served with nice home fries. The hollandaise sauce was so smooth and creamy and the poached eggs were perfectly runny with soft but cooked whites. Even the ham was really great quality ham. My husband had the ... d*mn, can't remember the name of the dish... something hash. It was corned beef hash with scrambled eggs on top with melted American cheese on top of the eggs. He absolutely loved it! Also, the server was really sweet and funny and friendly. The owner walks around chatting with everyone and is so sweet. I can't recommend this place enough for a great breakfast or...
Read moreCute small diner with very friendly staff, but unfortunately the kitchen couldn’t keep up with a full house. Over a 90 minute wait after ordering for a very basic breakfast of bacon, eggs, and toast! One person at our table got food an hour before the rest, and plates came out one at a time about 20 minutes apart. Other tables were served despite them arriving an hour after we sat down.
Overall, this looks like a fantastic family owned diner with really yummy food, but our experience was quite disappointing. Stay away if they have more than two tables of people, the kitchen just can’t handle being busy. If they’re not busy, I’m betting this...
Read moreI feel like the rating here is skewed compared to other breakfast restaurants nearby. Great service, but food is as basic as it gets. There was a shell in the scrambled eggs I got, home fries are bland, restaurant was dingy/dirty, coffee wasn't great. There just wasn't anything exciting about the food and the cash-only prices weren't really any cheaper than other restaurants around. The kitchen is open, so you can see all the ingredients used and it looks like nothing is homemade: precooked Oscar-Myers type bacon, store bought bread, spam, canned beans, etc. Had to try it once I guess, but probably won't...
