I am 21 years old and love a good poke bowl! I was super excited when I saw this was close by to my university. Yet, this was the worst bowl I’ve been served in my life. I have many problems to discuss with the poke bowl I received.
Firstly, the base line for a build your own bowl is 16.50. Sounds reasonable, right? Yet, as you scroll through the options of toppings and protein, you realize you are paying 16.50 for a base of white rice, sauce, and maybe some green onion thrown on top, and the rest of the options cost extra money. Apple + .50, pineapple + 1.00, each protein cost extra and was not included in the base cost of the bowl as is normal with most other poke bowl establishments. Depending on how much tuna or salmon you wanted most likely + 2.00 EACH.
Secondly, the total price was $31!!!!!! For a tiny bowl! Which included a service fee of $5.50 which is absolutely ridiculous.
Thirdly, I waited a good amount of time, which is normal and I was excited to receive my customized bowl. The worker looked over to me and randomly asked if I wanted avocado on my bowl. I said no, worried I would be charged 4 dollars or something else asinine. She says “free of charge.” Ok fine pull my leg, as a college student I’ll take free anything, right?
When I receive my bowl, half of the items I paid extra for were either missing or replaced. There were little clementine oranges on the bowl which I did not ask for, and if someone else had an allergy or dislike, could have ended badly. I realized she only asked me if I wanted avocado bc she didn’t put HALF THE ITEMS I WANTED ON MY BOWL!! And instead of telling me or asking me if I wanted a partial refund, she lied by omission and tossed some avocado on top!
I will admit the bowl was very fresh and tasted alright i suppose, but it did not taste like $31 dollars let me tell you.
Overall, I would recommend someplace else like big fin poke in south Portland! Worth the...

Long version: My dad and I went here on a whim as my dad hadn't had 'Hawaiian' in a while. But this place is not 'Hawaiian', it is its own amazing thing.
Immediately upon entering, we could tell it's a locally owned place. Very pragmatic -- no drink machines, no special branded fridges, no seating rituals, etc. That's often a precursor to good food because no corners are being cut to pay for procuring and maintaining those things.
The food was exceptional in general, not just exceptional for the price (which is beyond fair). I ordered a Tonkotsu style ramen w/ pork and it was the best ramen I've ever had. The owner comes across as highly intelligent, which is no surprise given the quality of the food.
They accept any payment, but there is an ATM machine inside and you should use it. Both you and the restaurant get a better...
