JB's on the Boardwalk — Restaurant in Hampton

The iconic McDonald's we were so used to seeing since the 1970s is gone. Admittedly, I was both surprised, and not surprised to hear McDonald's would not be reopening. The years of seeing that Burger place here are over, it's true.

Now, where once stood McDonald's, is now JB's Seafood. Nothing has really structurally changed to the building. It is still the old building with modifications to fit the current establishment's needs. I believe they have been open for about a week now? They still appear to be doing a lot of construction around the restaurant during business hours. So, the main dining room area has been repainted. The old tables have been removed and new indoor / outdoor tables have been put in place. It's basically a repainted / redecorated room. Looks nice and probably as good as it could possibly get without any major construction. They have nice TVs and an LED menu board. It appears that they serve breakfast (coffee), lunch and dinner. They also have beer, liquor, and wine. I am assuming the back area will be a bar? I will be interested to see the construction fully completed.

I would categorize it as an affordable seafood restaurant. I've attached pictures of their menu to google maps. Obviously things like lobster, are market priced daily, you will have to call if you want the price. The food I ordered was /okay/ but not WOW. The chicken was separated from the breading in every tender. The fries were over-cooked and not really tasteful. Lobsters are singles (1lb) and I have never in my life had to eat a lobster without butter. They HAD the butter, no problem. But I don't know what kind of butter that was. It was terrible. If I could deal with everything else, no problem. The butter though, is not appealing in the least. (IMO, of course)

I WANT to give the review more stars. I want to give them another chance. I don't think they really did anything wrong, but I feel that they are learning through making mistakes, and that's NORMAL. This is how things are in a new restaurant. You get up on your feet so fast and its go go go go go. I can imagine that they had a deadline they wanted to reach and for some reason fell short of that day? They still opened with construction unfinished. My poor cashier was clueless. Admitting she didn't like seafood and couldn't answer my questions. That's OKAY because that's when they learn. I think they can definitely have a successful business if they get their systems in place. I am looking forward to seeing this place again in the near future when it is more established.

To anyone looking to visit, please remember they are new. I am pointing out all of these things because these are learning points and they will grow from these in a positive way. I went here last night to get a lobster roll because google told me they have some of the biggest lobster rolls around and I figured I would enjoy the beach also.

I'm very disappointed with the food and service. Let's start off with the lobster roll I paid almost 30 dollars and got one of the smallest lobster rolls I have ever seen In my life. The amount of meat on it was horrible. It was probably like the size of 1 hot dog I legit eat the lobster roll In 2 bites it came with a few frys as well. The lobster rolls I got was with hot butter and it was cold by the time it made it to my table. I was so hungry after eating that lobster roll I decided to order a coconut shrimp appetizer and could instantly tell they where previously frozen and not homemade. Pretty disappointed with this place and the amount of money I spent I should of left with a full stomach but I was still hungry when I left after spending over 50 dollars on a lobster roll and an appetizer. People reading this might think maybe I'm a big guy but that is not true I'm 6'0 and 170 LBS this meal would of been enough to fill a small child not an adult. I get the food prices are more expensive being on the beach but the lobster roll should of came with a decent amount of lobster being 30 dollars. I would of been more fuller off eating 2 hot dogs then eating a lobster roll there. If anyone is thinking about buying a lobster roll here please save your money and just make one at home or drive the extra 20-30 mins and go straight into Maine and get better bang for your buck. Me and my family enjoy going to Ogunquit Lobster Pound where the lobster is fresh off the boat daily and all there seafood gets delivered by the day. I suggest lobster & steamers there top notch at Lobster Pound. Needless to say I will never go back to JB Seafood and buy anything other then a beer. I definitely should’ve asked for my money back for mediocre food and RUDE customer service. If i could give zero stars, i would and im not ONLY because the girls that work the register were extremely nice. This is for your sister location, JB’s Fast Food & Ice Cream. Your “chef” specifically - the miserable, old one. he is extremely disrespectful to not only customers, but also to his employees. Does he always threaten the employees or put their jobs on the line? Or yell AND curse at customers for defending said employees? OH okay. If you’re not aware, I hope after this, you do something about it. Whether that vile excuse of a human being is the owner, manager or none of the above; threatening someone’s job JUST BECAUSE YOURE TRIGGERED OVER A QUESTION IS FAR FROM OKAY. respect is earned NOT given.
