As a native Texan I was over the moon to see this place pop up. So here is my “she’s from Texas...” review of Shane’s.
FOOD: I ordered the house brisket with house bbq sauce, slice of white bread, potato salad. The brisket was AWESOME. It’s been about 3 years since I’ve had brisket as good as home outside of Texas. Great job here. The flavor was perfect. It wasn’t dry. You could really taste a lot of flavor in every bite. The BBQ sauce, all four flavors offered, were a big let down for me. I was not a fan of any of them. The one that came across best was the vinegar bbq sauce but even that one needed a thicker consistency. I couldn’t pin point the ingredients of the house sauce but I just know it was not my cup of tea. SPEAKING OF TEA. *Shane’s if you’re reading this - PLEASE just brew your own tea fresh in house. The tea is like drinking lemon water with a teaspoon of tea in it. I super 100% do not recommend it in its current state. the other food items on my plate were well done. I would order them again.
SERVICE: The wait staff was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed our waitress Taylor, she probably thought I was a handful but she kept a straight face and took good care of us.
ATMOSPHERE: The decor and overall smell of the place was right on the money. It definitely felt like a regular place I would go to back home. They played top country hits while we were there but apparently there’s live music sometimes which I would love to check out.
Overall, I would definitely go back! Thanks for a great...
Read morePulled in to try it out on my way home. It was relatively empty. The person at the front was assisting someone, so I waited off to the side. The staff person asked if they could help, so I said, "Just table for one." When finished with the other customer, I was just hanging there in front of them without another word.....after a couple of minutes, I decided to ask if I could just seat myself. Communication? When ordering, I asked about the greens, vinegar or butter and pork flavor. Staffperson defensively advised me that "He got his recipe from Austin,"........ok. still didn't answer my question. After the staff person asked the kitchen staff my question, I decided not to get greens and was explaining that in NE, some places use vinegar, and I miss the buttery pork greens that I used to get when I lived in TX for 15 years, and- they abruptly stopped me with, "I just work here, " before walking away. 😳 fair enough, but some folks just want to know that what they're ordering is something they want. I'm paying, right? So maybe act as though not every question is a challenge. She was nice enough after, but my experience was already a little soured. I got over it. Brisket was tender with a nice crusty rub. Wished it had a little more flavor. The corn bread hunk was really good. Delicious, hard, crusty outside. I would have loved butter with it. It comes with a spread that seems to be some kind of honey spread(?) The taste was peculiar. Anyway, not...
Read moreWas in the area back on 10/13/2022 for work. Stuck in a hotel in Amesbury MA and i wanted BBQ. Price was a bit higher than i thought it should be but I found out it was money very well spent. So I door dashed a large order of the Mac Cheese with brisket and 1/2 pound of Brisket. Gave the dasher a 20 buck tip (dont care it was worth it)to get it to me Fast. When it arrived it was still steaming! I have had BBQ thru out Texas and while good only 1 place in Texas i have found is on the level of greatness this place is on IMO. 1st the mac and cheese brisket with the BBQ sauce was more than on point. The sauce sent it over the top. The combo of the Brisket cheese and sauce made me have a moment! Sweet Lightly spicy tangy and cheesy IMO a great combo for sure. Next was the brisket!! The rub was spot on for it. It did not over power the smoke flavor. Then add the smoky goodness and the fact that the fat melted as soon as it it hit my mouth Made Me want to Slap my MAMMA! The 1/2 pound brisket needed no BBQ to make it better. The bark could have been more but i like the bark. Bark is hard get in places like this no matter where you get it from. So its not a deal breaker AND they made up for it. The beans where great full of flavor with hints of the rub used on the brisket and smokey flavor put them as my top pick. If i ever get to make it back to the area will be stopping in to check the...
