Zahid Nihari in Streamwood is a hidden gem that delivers a truly delightful dining experience. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm smiles and friendly service. The restaurant boasts a family-friendly atmosphere, making it a perfect choice for a casual meal with loved ones.
Now, let's talk about the food. We sampled their Chicken Biryani, Butter Chicken, and Kharadi Gosht, and all three dishes were nothing short of amazing. The Chicken Biryani was fragrant and packed with flavors that transported us to the streets of Pakistan. Each grain of rice was perfectly cooked and infused with aromatic spices, while the tender chicken was succulent and well-marinated. It was a true feast for the senses.
The Butter Chicken was a standout dish that had us licking our fingers in delight. The creamy tomato-based gravy was luscious and had just the right balance of spices. The chicken pieces were tender and coated in the rich, velvety sauce, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that left us craving more.
The Kharadi Gosht was another highlight of our meal. This slow-cooked mutton dish was tender and succulent, with the flavors of the spices deeply infused into the meat. The gravy was rich and aromatic, making it a perfect accompaniment to the fluffy naan bread we ordered.
While the food at Zahid Nihari is undeniably the star of the show, it is worth mentioning that the restaurant's ambiance could benefit from a bit of uplift. The decor and furnishings feel a bit dated, but this is easily overlooked when the incredible flavors of the food hit your taste buds.
Overall, Zahid Nihari in Streamwood is a must-visit for food enthusiasts seeking an authentic and flavorsome dining experience. The friendly hosts and family-friendly atmosphere add to the welcoming vibe of the place. The restaurant may lack in terms of ambiance, but it more than makes up for it with its exceptional culinary offerings. If you're in the mood for some mouthwatering Pakistani cuisine, Zahid Nihari is the...
Read moreTook the family here for the Mother's day brunch and unfortunately had a terrible experience. Our family and friends had given us some decent reviews, but upon walking in we felt like we were guests at someones house for a party that we weren't invited to. Absolutely no customer service and we had to track down people picking up dishes just order the kids some chicken nuggets that came out burning hot and dripping in oil. Dont get me wrong, most of the food tasted decent and had ok quality but the buffet racks and burners were of dollar store quality so most of the food was just sitting there cold for hours I'm sure and was barely lukewarm at best. The naan and purris were not fresh and stiff from not being warmed up or maintained properly. The nihari had 2 botis left and noone refilled it for over an hour of us being there (so there went the chance to try Zahid Nihari). There were chunks of food all over the floor with no one cleaning it up and lots of room for major improvement. Not to mention that 2 of our family members including me ended up with terrible digestion issues after the meal which explains a lot!! The buffet trays were not being refilled properly after being finished and the lay out was super depressing. Did i mention there were absolutely no waiters or staff to even ask a question or greet you and/ or welcome first time/repeat customers into the establishment? This place has so much potential but unfortunately is very disorganized and poorly executed and is definitely not worth the high price point at this time. Hoping it gets better from here...
Read moreFinally, a decent Pakistani place in the western suburbs. I’m pretty sure they used to be on Devon, so, you know it’s good. Every time I go to a Pakistani or Indian restaurant, I come home dissatisfied. Zahid Nihari is different and seriously legit. They make all of the traditional dishes (and it’s not all tailored to a western palate, thankfully). It’s the right level of spice, accurate combination of flavors, and the people running this restaurant are so welcoming. Biryani delicious. Nihari flavorful. There are a few dishes I don’t care for like the spring rolls and the chicken tikka, but that’s okay. And, a few lamb dishes that are not my favorite either, but I just don’t like lamb. Totally fine. Try this place out! I’m worried about the clientele that are coming to eat at Zahid though. I observed today that customers don’t have respect for the staff in keeping the place clean and tidy. People who are coming to eat here: don’t treat the owners and staff like garbage, especially during Ramzan. They’re not your mothers to clean up after you. Have some respect and clean up after yourselves. Thank you Zahid Nihari for coming out to the burbs and please keep the delicious...
