Today is February 14th. Back in October I booked my wedding ceremony at the Seville. The wedding will be at the end of June, now at a different location. My fiancée and I had looked at several locations that weren’t able to book us at the time we wanted or required some additional room fees. The Seville was our last and least enthusiastic spot. I should’ve listened to my fiancée’s concerns more but we were both tired and defeated by the time we came to the Seville. We signed a contract and were told we had to pay in full ($1295) as there was no option to make payments or put down a small deposit. Afterwards, the Seville informed us we’d have a scanned copy of the contract sent to our email but we never received anything.
In the 4 months that I had my ceremony booked at the Seville, I never received any communication from them. Every other vendor, from the reception site, DJ, Reverent, florist, photographer, videographer, baker, and wedding planner checked in and updated details with us through email. The Seville is also the only vendor who required a full payment. Recently, when the wedding planner, a carpenter and my fiancée went to visit the Seville to plan out seating and a timeline, we called ahead of time and were told to walk in without an appointment. It was during this meeting that we discovered the space simply wasn’t going to work for what we wanted. We asked the woman helping us if we could switch some things around in our package to better accommodate our expectations but she acted as if we were wasting her time. Granted, she was also helping another couple at the time and looked like she was having a rough day. However, she informed us there was no compromise on the contract.
After discussing our concerns with our wedding planner, we decided to cancel our ceremony at the Seville. Since we paid in full, we knew we’d have to forfeit some money. Their email is not listed on their website and since we’ve never had a direct line of communication, my fiancée called the Seville. On the phone, the woman informed us that according to their policy, we’d have to forfeit 85% of our money without exception.
Hoping this was a miscommunication, I made an appointment yesterday to speak to someone in person. At that time, I still didn’t have a copy of the contract I signed. I spoke with Nicole, who was empathetic. She understood my situation and printed out a copy of my contract for me to review. It should be noted that she changed some details of the “Additional Charges and Instructions” section of the contract before printing it. Nicole also grabbed the original. Comparing the two, it’s more or less the same information, but worded differently. I still don’t have a copy of the original I signed. Nicole wanted to help me, but was at the mercy of her company’s policy. She told me to speak with the owner, Sam, and handed me a business card. When I told her I’d call Sam in the lobby, she offered to call him and we could both speak to him.
Nicole called Sam and explained the situation, then handed the phone to me. Sam was stern on the phone and told me I had no other option than to lose 85% of the money I paid him. No matter how often I told him that there’s still 4 months to book the room after my cancellation, he would counter with “There was also 4 months where I couldn’t book the room.” I got angry on the phone after Sam refused to compromise and hung up. Nicole apologized and wrote me a check for $195. She informed me that since a typical deposit is $2000 and our wedding was less, paying in full was the only option they could have offered us. I knew none of this beforehand.
In total, I lost $1100. I’m disappointed by the Seville’s policies and their management’s lack of customer service. There was no attempt to accommodate our wedding day concerns and they didn’t provide us with a copy of the contract we signed. I would not recommend booking with...

Read moreMy husband and I got married here just a couple weeks ago. Our wedding day was the best day of our lives! Having our reception at the Seville was a GREAT decision. We had visited a lot of wedding venues in the Chicagoland area and the Seville truly stood out to us as they offered exactly what we were looking for i.e. up lighting, dancing on the clouds, cold sparklers, trusted list of vendors, delicious food, etc. It was an easy choice to make too, once we met some of the great people who work at this venue. We met with Desiree two years ago which is one of the wedding coordinators at this beautiful establishment. She was there for us since day 1 and ensured we got everything we wanted for our wedding and MORE! I will never forget how she went out of her way to answer all our questions and she always responded quickly. She would call and text me even on the weekends sometimes and I really appreciated that she was with us throughout the whole wedding planning process. She stuck by her word and promises and I will truly miss working with Desiree! She was so kind, funny, and just an easy person to talk to!
There were others that were great as well that I'd like to give a shout out to which include the IT crew specifically Eugenio who went out of his way to make sure all the audio & visuals worked correctly before our big day. Tammy is another great wedding coordinator that was able to help us a lot when Desiree was out of the office and we were lucky to have worked with her as well. Lisa was very nice as well and helped us check in all our lovely wedding decor and made sure we got everything back the next morning plus extra sweets and our cake topper. Also, big thank you to our day of wedding coordinator Yesenia! She ensured we got everything we wanted and needed on our actual wedding day and everything turned out perfect!
This is truly a beautiful, well kept venue with amazing packages available and endless options to add to your day. The food is delicious and the food tasting is a great time to enjoy all their food prior to picking your menu! Their preferred DJ JAZ ENTERTAINMENT is GREAT and there are plenty of hotels in the area. They offer plenty of open houses throughout the year to meet with people and tour the place. Private bridal suite will be given to you as well for the day of your wedding.
We greatly miss our wedding day and if you're stuck on whether or not you should make the Seville your wedding day venue believe me when I say they will do everything they can to make your day THE BEST. VERY HAPPY BRIDE...
