When you're in Hapeville for business what do you do? Look up your lunch options in advance and check reviews. I was thrilled when I came across Fish Bowl Poke and learned that it was just a few minutes from my meeting. They have 4 locations in Georgia ( Sweet Auburn, Downtown, Toca Hills, and Hapeville). This location is opened Monday through Saturday 11 to 8pm. There are a few free parking spots in front of the restaurant or you can locate free 2 hour street parking. Fish Bowl provides Hawaiian fresh pokè (raw fish salad) at a reasonable price with great service.
This location is fairly small and recently opened, there's a few tables located inside but if you're claustrophobic I recommend getting it to go. I was immediately greeted as I entered. I had read reviews online so I knew the process. You pick up a laminated menu card and select your options, its very simple and also eliminates or reduces error since it's not a poke bar. You select your size, base, protein, marinade, toppings and aioli.
I selected a regular bowl for $10.95, which includes 2 scoops of protein. I love spicy so it was not a difficult choice, I selected spicy tuna and salmon, brown rice and salad, spicy soy, spicy aioli and all toppings. The wait was pretty quick for a lunch time order to go. I also ordered an ice Vietnamese coffee.
Food - Beautiful presentation and most importantly it tasted very fresh and just overall delicious. All ingredients complimented each other and the regular size was very filling.
Perfect healthy option for lunch if you're...
Read moreI'm convinced that this is the best poké you'll find in Atlanta and its surrounding cities. I've even had poké in other states, and they're all in entirely separate, lower leagues than Fish Bowl.
Fresh, affordable and lots of customizable options to choose from that truly allow you to make your bowl your own. The staff are also incredibly sweet, friendly and speedy with their service.
I used to work in the area and would eat here at least once or twice a week for almost a year straight. I've since moved work locations, but I try to visit once a month if time allows (I would more often if ATL's traffic wasn't atrocious at all times of the day).
I really hope that their reduction in operating hours isn't a bad sign but something beneficial for the owners, because this place deserves every bit of business that should come its way. Cannot recommend it enough!
My go-to order: regular bowl, sushi rice w/ salad, spicy tuna, salmon, regular soy, all toppings (everything), sweet...
Read moreThe location is not the best and there's not easy parking either. We got lucky that a car was just leaving at the front of the place when we arrived. It is very small. There is not enough space to seat inside. Just a couple of tables. I would say it is more of a to-go place.
It lacks decore and does not feel inviting. The girl at the front could be more friendly. Sometimes, a smile makes a difference.
The food was OK. I was not impressed with the flavors. Menu is very limited. To be honest, I was a bit worried about eating here since it is raw food and I'm very careful where I do so. I did not get sick, so I guess it was okay.
Overall, i think it is a good place to satisfy your Poké need if you don't want to drive to downtown Atlanta. There is potential if they up their food quality and service and if they move to a...
