As soon as you walk in, the music is so loud that it’s difficult to communicate with the cashier. I had to repeat myself multiple times because the cashier couldn’t hear me, which made ordering frustrating. On top of that, the restaurant was freezing cold—it’s uncomfortable to sit and eat when the air conditioning is blasting this much. It’s a beautiful 70-degree summer day in Happy Valley, and it seems like such a missed opportunity not to take advantage of the outdoor seating. Guests would love to enjoy that space.
The staff could also use some retraining on efficiency and customer service. I ordered a single mini turkey sandwich, but halfway through making my order, the employee stopped to take another customer’s order while the other staff member did nothing to help. I ended up waiting at least 20 minutes for one sandwich.
I’ve been a long-time fan of Capriotti’s from when I lived in the Midwest, and I truly love the food. Unfortunately, this location isn’t being run well, but with a few quick improvements—lower music, more comfortable environment, better use of outdoor space, and improved staff training—it could be a great spot that attracts...
Read moreNot for the faint of heart as it was the most expensive sandwich I ever have had made at $39. However, it was perfection and I will do it again. A large philly with wagyu, double meat, sweet and hot peppers, mushrooms, onions and provolone cheese.
I asked the grill master to not overcook the the pile of rare meat and additions. She made it spot on perfect with only enough heat to melt the cheese.
Weighed in at a whopping 3.4 lbs! I cut each half into 3 sections ($6.50 each) and got six meals out of this amazing sandwich. The Wagyu was unbelievably tender, almost melt in your mouth) and in my opinion worth the extra cost.
My only change would be to grill the bun and to add Au Jus to the menu, which is why I took it home. As I have Johnny's French Dip Au Jus there.
I also like their coleslaw. I haven't tried anything else and probably won't.
Overall, the best sandwich I have ever had made at a sandwich shop in my life.
At 70, I am retired from a sandwich cart and 3 restaurants. I believe I got a senior discount or some sort of discount. I only wish I could add pictures of this monster sandwich.

Read moreAfter reading about Thanksgiving Sandwiches I thought that I would find a local restaurant that makes them. Capriotti's was the closest place. I ordered the Hot Bobbie on line and drove there. When I arrived, I had a cold Bobbie waiting for me. After the staff tried to gaslight me, I argued with them and they produced a Hot Bobbie for me. One nice thing is that they have mastered the art of cutting sandwiches in half, unlike Jersey Mikes, which needs remedial instruction in the use of a kitchen knife. The sandwich itself had a nice amount of stuffing (dressing) with a good strong sage flavor. The stuffing was moist enough. Unfortunately, the turkey was not moist. It had evidently sat in a heating tray too long and was kind of crispy. Also, the turkey was cut into small chunks, rather than being sliced. There was not enough cranberry sauce or mayo. The roll was just OK and could have benefited from being put on the grill before serving. I was disappointed, but not too deeply, because, as my wife reminded me, it's...
