Portland is known for its vast selection of breweries and I believe has been a true pioneer for the evolution of the craft beer industry. Unfortunately, Stickmen is not a brewery I would include in this and quite frankly misses the mark in every single aspect.
Truly, there are so many successful breweries in the area that they could 'look up to' with excellent business models. How this business continues to fail time and time again is beyond me. Serve decent food, decent beer, have decent employees- doesn't seem too difficult, but Stickmen raises it to an octave.
Let's start with the food- it's gross. I can guarantee the pizza will either be completely over cooked or undercooked, every time. Almost anything you order will be inedible. Whoever in upper management thinks that they're creative for the specialty pizzas they feature each month needs to look into a community college intro to foods class. Or maybe a simple intro to business class, even. What keeps customers coming back? Consistency. You'll never receive this from Stickmen. It might be advisable to focus on producing quality food that tastes good. I don't think people expect much from a brewery in a pitiful strip mall; that's how low quality their food selection is. You'd be better off ordering from Dominos a few doors down. At least you know what you're getting into with them
There is absolutely nothing special about the beer. No creativity, no care, not one unique beer, absolutely nothing redeeming. Walk across the street to Fred Meyer and you'll find a much better selection than this sorry excuse for a microbrewery.
This brings me to the worst component of the place: the service. Hiring unqualified, lazy, incompetent people who like to sit at the front on their phones and color little kid coloring sheets is perturbing to any customer who will walk out with a $100+ bill for two disgusting pizzas and subpar beer. The very little service you may receive will be accompanied with a side of eye roll and attitude. Hearing servers gossip and play with their hair and nails as they stand around an absolutely filthy establishment shows how little these employees know. This location is disgusting. Crumbs covering the counters, dusty everywhere, the bathrooms are constantly in shambles. I've received beer glasses with lipstick marks more often than I have not.
Stickmen, your business is clearly failing which is completely deserving. A word to the (not) wise, if you were a knowledgeable business, you'd make improvements to an otherwise great area. The lackluster food, beer, and service will never establish a lasting business, deservingly so.
I'd highly recommend Ranch pizza up the road, and a 6 pack from Fred Meyers before you ever step foot in this establishment. Don't give this sorry excuse for a brewery a single dime or any...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been going to Stickmen at Sunnyside since it's opening. The food is good has games for kids but for the most part the staff are not warm happy or always friendly. Only a few will great you verbally or even thank you for coming in. The mens bathroom sink is filthy with pink slime in the drain and a brown ring around the drain. It is rarely cleaned, maybe 2-3 times this year. The urinals equally filthy. The deodorant pads in then are so old there is no longer an aroma. Food crumbs and old chewing gum everywhere. Tables remain uncleared even though there are plenty of staff. The pizza boxes can wait to be folded, clear the tables first. And on sunny days why are the umbrellas closed and not opened. Surely the opening person has time in the morning to put them up and at least reset the table and chairs. There are bits of trash left outside and some has been there for a while. When served a beer, if cheers is spoken it comes off rote not and not always sincerely. The servers face can be blank and cold as if they could careless if your there. I have seen pizza delivered to tables without a smile or even a " here you are, enjoy" , just plopped down. I have noticed regulars no longer coming. I go because of the beer, view, some of the employees and sports on t.v. But I know I will not be warmly greeted or spoken to most of the time. In the winter I have seen customers wearing jackets, hats and some times gloves because it is so cold in there. And on days when it is not terribly warm the air conditioning is on. It is as if customer comfort is not important. Don't they realize it's the customer who makes their paycheck possible. This coming fall, winter and early spring hot drinks would be a nice addition. Cold beer and soda are not always wanted when it is below freezing out. Hot apple cider, tea, hot chocolate or regular coffee are just some suggestions. They have been requested in the past. I want to see Stickmens succeed. I hope your staff can start showing a caring attitude and not what appears to be "...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited with a friend and ordered a few flights and pints and a couple of pizzas. Let me start with the beer. The selection was nice although they could add a few more taps. Almost everything was different from other taprooms in the area. I like to try new beers. Glad I found this place.
My pizzas were fresh and well done. They use a wood fired oven. It takes some time for an establishment to figure out these ovens. Maybe I just got lucky, but my pizzas were excellent. They could add a few appetizers to their menu.
Now to the customer service. The staff was very attentive to customer needs. The ambience is excellent. They do hire younger kids. I respect the business for providing employment and experience to our local kids.
I have nothing to complain about this place. If you just want good beer and pizza and a nice ambient spacious place to hang out, this is your place. I will definitely check them out for breakfast. Please support your local businesses. I admire anyone betting on our community in these...
