I was passing through the area and decided to stop at Arepa House, which turned out to be an excellent idea because the food is super tasty.
Arepa House is easily recognizable from the street due to its yellow facade and large yellow lettering displaying the restaurant's name. Upon entering, we were greeted by a welcoming smile from a young woman. The staff speaks both English and Spanish, so you can communicate comfortably in whichever language you prefer.
Inside, the same vibrant yellow color scheme continues, along with blue and red, which are the colors of the Venezuelan flag. Some expertly drawn chalk designs adorn a few wall areas painted black, adding an artistic touch to the ambiance.
We savored a variety of dishes, including vegan arepas (plantain, avocado, and beans), a cachapa with cheese, a vegetarian empanada, a steak dish, and a maltín drink, among others. The green sauce they provided took the food to another level. One thing to note is I witnessed them with arepa dough and using cachapas batter, ensuring that the arepas and cachapas were made fresh.
In addition to the ready-to-eat food, the restaurant sells a selection of food items, snacks, and treats such as Carré (chocolate with nuts), Samba Fresa, Hony Bran, Gayetón, Cocosette, and my personal favorite, bocadillo de plátano.
The staff members are hardworking individuals who promptly prepared the food for both dine-in and take-out customers.
I was thoroughly impressed with the food at Arepa House. I hope to have the opportunity to return soon, and I definitely recommend dining at this Arepa House – you won't be...
Read moreSmall but cute place to eat. The waitress didn’t have any smile at all but she did try to accommodate my request. I got pabellon al plato (beef) because I saw on the photos that someone got this dish with steak, but the waitress told me they use shredded beef not steak, I told her that kind of throwing me off, because that’s the reason I asked my husband to eat at this place. On their menu they didn’t have any descriptions what’s in Pabellon either I mean probably the venezolanos that coming to eat I’m sure they’ll know but for other people that wanted to explore foods will be much help if they can included that. But they did be able to accommodate what I want it just the steak was not good, it was well done, chewy and didn’t have good seasoning also they drizzled the steak with BBQ sauce, I don’t like BBQ sauce. The rice was also hard I’m not sure if that was old rice, not enough water when they cooked I don’t know why I can’t even have good decent rice. The beans didn’t have a flavor. The only thing I ate all from my plate was the tostones and the avocado (I attached picture how I done with my plate before leave my table) my husband got big hot dog and with that you definitely can’t ruin the food.
So so so disappointed.
I mean if they try eat that meat that they made I’m pretty sure they won’t like it how that came out either. Like don’t create a dish that you as a cook won’t eat it...
Read moreI was visiting Harrisburg and came across this place while searching for coffee on Google. When I arrived, I was surprised by how busy it was. I parked my car in street parking and waited almost 20 minutes in line to place my order. The ambiance and style of the place were unique and different from anything I’d seen before. They mainly serve freshly made arepas, which I had never tried, but the bustling crowd convinced me to give it a shot.
I ordered the Reina Pepiada, which is an arepa filled with chicken, mayo, and avocado. For my beverage, I chose Chicha, and for dessert, I had Tres Leches. I really liked the atmosphere—it had a charming, small-world feel that I enjoyed.
As for the food, I didn’t love it as much, probably because I’d never had arepas before, so the taste was unfamiliar to me. However, the food was still good, just not exactly to my liking. My friend, on the other hand, really enjoyed it. At $8 for an arepa, it seemed a bit pricey, but considering they are freshly made, I think it’s worth it.
They also had board games to play while waiting for the food, which was a fun touch. Overall, it was a good experience, and I’d say the place is definitely worth a visit, especially if you enjoy...
