During our recent stay at the Hilton in Harrisburg, we encountered a range of experiences that left us with mixed feelings. Here's a breakdown of our stay:
Check-in and Front Desk: The initial impression was dampened by the unenthusiastic attitude of some of the front desk staff. It was disappointing to feel unwelcome right from the start.
Room Condition: Our disappointment continued as we found ourselves dealing with a broken lock box, a malfunctioning fridge, and issues with in two out of the three rooms we had booked. Such inconveniences significantly impacted our overall stay.
Restaurant Experience: The uncourteous behavior exhibited by the restaurant management was quite off-putting. They seemed to behave as if they were doing us a favor by accommodating our large group. The lack of hospitality was particularly disappointing when dining with our older parents and relatives.
Room Service Woes: One of the most frustrating aspects of our stay was the repeated failure of the room service team to show up after multiple requests. We had to make over six calls just to get room service on the last day of our stay. This level of inconvenience was far from satisfactory.
Technicians and Night Staff: Despite the disappointments, we did find some respite in the excellent technicians and night staff. Their helpfulness and professionalism were a welcome change and helped alleviate some of the issues we faced.
Accommodations and Room Comfort: One bright spot was the large and spacious room we were provided with. It was a comfortable space, complete with a comfortable bed. This aspect of the stay was greatly appreciated, especially when traveling with our older family members.
Additional Concerns: It was surprising to find that there were no cereal bowls in the restaurant, and the staff couldn't even provide a clear answer about their whereabouts. This added to the overall sense of inconsistency and confusion during our dining experiences.
Furthermore, as seasoned travelers who have explored various destinations around the world, we must regrettably admit that this particular hotel stay at the Hilton in Harrisburg stands out as one of the more disappointing experiences we've encountered. In particular, when we reflect on our stays at other reputable chains like Marriott and even at different Hilton locations, this stay pales in comparison. The inconsistencies in service, the unaddressed issues, and the lack of attention to customer satisfaction make it hard for us to recommend this Hilton to fellow travelers seeking a comfortable and enjoyable stay. We hope that our feedback serves as an opportunity for the Hilton management to address these concerns and strive for the excellence that we've come to expect from other establishments in the hospitality industry.
In conclusion, our stay at the Hilton in Harrisburg was marked by a mix of highs and lows. While the spacious room and comfortable bed were highlights, the unenthusiastic front desk staff, room issues, restaurant management, and room service struggles left us disappointed. The presence of helpful technicians and night staff offered some relief, but overall, the experience fell short of our expectations, especially when considering the needs of our older...
Read moreMy stay at the Hilton was lovely until I left something behind. The staff was genuine and kind. The food at breakfast was fresh and the waiting staff gave outstanding service.
Unfortunately, I left behind a medical device in the bed. It was directly under the comforter but I left in a rush and forgot to grab it. This should have been easily returned to the front desk for me to pick up. I called less than 12 hours after leaving the hotel explaining my situation. The front desk seemed very uninterested in helping me, so I immediately drove down to the hotel, a 45 minute drive, to speak to someone in person. The person at the front desk claimed he was the manager. I told him my situation and he immediately said he probably couldn't help me. He said there was no way the staff took anything and made excuse after excuse of how it could not of happened. I asked him about the cameras in the hall? He said we may or may not have cameras. I asked him if he knew the staff that cleaned on that floor? He said no, there was no way of knowing. I asked if I could check the room just in case it was not cleaned yet. Then he claimed the entire hotel was booked the night before on a slow Sunday with no special events going on in the area. It was so slow at the hotel that they locked the public bathroom doors. I know this because I was there until 6 that evening for a meeting. He never even asked what room I was in. Then he directed me to security. Brian, the security person told me the opposite of what the so called manager at the front desk claimed but told me it would take days to check out but he would go personally now and check the room.
He said he was going to check my room but that it was occupied, he said the incorrect room number. I said no, that is the incorrect room, and gave him the correct number. The he said okay, I will go check. He was gone for 20 minutes and claimed there was nothing. It takes 2 minutes to get to the room I stayed in. He came back and said he would investigate further but for now there was nothing he could do. Days went by and I had to call again. He finally returned my call at the end of the day with "sorry no luck." While Brian was polite and said he could relate to my situation the lack of efficiency and lies made me feel their was a corruption going on with this hotel. I will never go here again. If you have anything valuable don't bring it with you. If you leave anything behind, you are out of luck. 9/28 I would like to add a note to this review. After writing this review my medical device was suddenly found. I am very grateful for the return. Brian, the security person, was kind but I felt there were so many things that did not make sense. I am glad it worked out but as I reflect on all I had to do to get something returned it was disappointing. I drove 4 hours total back and forth to this hotel, the front desk person Kevin, pretended to be the manager, he lied and showed no interest in resolving my problem. I had to wait 5 days for a simple return. I found out the rooms get serviced every 4 days and my medical device was in my room all that time. Integrity and common sense seems to be at a low level...
Read more0/10 I definitely do NOT recommend. The first room they put me in was not only not clean.. but someone’s bank mail, chewed gum, packaged condoms, and a suspicious note were left in the drawer between the beds. I was moved to a second room that was also not clean - someone’s trash was in the drawer under the cups, a dirty and brown wash cloth was balled up on the chair, and then I found black mold in multiple parts of the shower. When I called about my second room’s issues and that there was mold they told me housekeeping would be up to clean it. When I expressed concern about what they meant since it was mold and how could they just clean it since it was mold in the shower/tub itself they said “I don’t know what the housekeepers use. Bleach?” …… a few minutes later I did get a call back from a different manager that upgraded my room without an upcharge, but I still had to pay for the original room even though it was just a one night stay. I was in town for a conference and by the time I got back to my room to discover these issues it was just before 10pm.. but by the time I finally got into a clean room it was nearly 11pm. Easily took an hour for them to find me a decent room. The suite they put me in had clean bedding but there was still a used bar of soap in the shower. At least it wasn’t mold though. They did give me a $45 certificate, but it could only be used at that hotel, in either of the restaurants or the bar, and expired the following day. My limited time considered, I decided to get lunch to-go from the restaurant - that is located inside the hotel. I didn’t want to have to cook on my travel day after leaving there. When I go home I ate the one meal, which was a tasty quinoa bowl (no meat)….. the following day I decided to eat the fried Korean bbq chicken sandwich I had brought home the night before. I heated it up in the microwave which dried out a lot of it so it was somewhat chewy… what I didn’t realize until I go to the middle of the sandwich was although the outer edges were over cooked and chewy, the middle was RAW. I don’t know how they could overlook the outsides of the chicken and have the middle be COMPLETELY RAW, but they figured out how to do that perfectly. The middle was so raw it looked like I had just brought it home from the grocery store. When I called the restaurant to tell them in hopes that they wouldn’t serve anyone else that insanely raw chicken no one answered the phones even though it was during business hours. Seems on par for my experience. And I am usually very easy going. This hotel just really dropped my standards for all Hiltons. Needless to say I would rather sleep in my car than...
