Excellent food, subpar COVID-19 precautions.
I went during a busy lunch hour two days ago and was dismayed to see that MULTIPLE staff were not wearing masks. These included two gentlemen behind the counter (who were just behind the cashiers) and one person who was carrying the food from the person (masked) preparing the food and the patron.
As an immune compromised person due to pregnancy, I have to lean on the establishment to follow state ordinances to ensure safety of patrons. Needless to say, I did not feel protected while in the store. Moreover, I called the "manager" after leaving and was told that I had to talk directly to an owner at another site. The manager also expressed that Mr. J's does not have to have staff wear a mask when not in direct line or 10 feet of patrons. However, I visualized a blonde taking her mask on and off without proper hand washing and was handling food regularly.
I will not be returning to this establishment due to the frank disregard for my health safety as displayed by the staff and management.
That being said, their bagels are so delicious I still ate it! That is after waiting 24 hours(my hope is that any virus cannnot live that long on a fomite). their food really is exceptional! I'm hoping my experience was more of a fluke because it is hard to find such...
Read moreI've been a long time customer of Mr. J's and have previously been very happy with my experiences. Though, it seems there are quality control issues now coming about. Specifically, with mobile/online orders. I rely heavily on ordering ahead for pickup, but the last visits have started to turn me off from Mr. J's.
In my recent orders, it isn't a question of 'if' there will be an issue with my order, but instead, how wrong will it be? I've had many issues ranging from being given the wrong bagel, never having bagels toasted, missing cream cheese, or other parts of a sandwich, etc. Some of which are simple instructions (I can understand being missed maybe every once in a while), but others cost me $ since I don't receive the extra add-ons I paid for. I can't think of a single order I placed that I received correctly in recent time. This is incredibly frustrating as it can be seen on the ticket as to what should be included in an order (the same one stapled to the bag when picking up) and it's still wrong. Very disappointing especially when I'm consistently ordering close to $20 per order and it's incorrect. If these qc issues can't be solved, I'd be upset that I'd have to take my...
Read moreMr. Js is the go-to breakfast place for me and my family. While we’ve been to all of their locations, this is the one we frequent most.
Pros: Their bagels are delicious, and unlike many other chains where seasonings may be sparse, they don’t skimp on sesame seeds or poppy seeds for their everything bagels. I’d have to recommend their bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich (on any bagel). Rather than just a piece or two of bacon, they’ve managed to create little bacon circles that perfectly fill the sandwich and give you bacon in every bite! The pricing is much better than Panera for a similar item.
Cons: I don’t find their home fry breakfast potatoes particularly good. Texturally they taste like a boiled potato that just got cut into cubes and thrown on a griddle; they are just soft and a little grainy, rather than crispy. Their drink prices are also quite high if you wanted to grab a bottle of juice or a coffee for your meal, so I usually forgo purchasing one. They also do not have a changing table for babies in the men’s restroom, just the women’s restroom. This has left me wondering what to do if a guy has a baby to change? Use the women’s restroom? Use a table...
