American & Mexican Diner — Restaurant in Hartford

UPDATED This restaurant had a very nice atmosphere. Parking is as expected in Hartford. Ended up parking across the street in a no parking section (nothing happened). It's the first floor of a home that's been converted into a restaurant. The food was ok, it honestly looks 10x than it actually is. The flavor is all in the toppings and it felt like our food was underseasoned. But it looked beautiful on my plate. The menu was huge so we were a bit indecisive on what to get. The French toast was delicious, I wish I would have stuck with that. The waitress was very nice but she forgot to put in an order we requested. We ended up sharing a plate and by the time the food arrived we had filled up. We didn't ask for anything but it would have been nice to not charge us. The fajita omelet was ok, kind of bland, I poured everything on top to add flavor. The mango dragonfruit lemonade and the French toast were the highlights, very tasty. I would not return to this restaurant.

Responding to the owner: No hate. This was my experience in your restaurant and I left an honest review. We did leave out the fact that the waitress cursed when she walked up but we felt that was part of the charm of the place. Why did we include both pictures? Because we did eventually get our second plate and we thought the plating was amazing. Was it a misunderstanding? Probably. We didn't feel the need to get a manager involved and get the waitress in trouble. I feel she should feel empowered enough to take care of the issue on her own. In response to some claims on your part. The waitress did visit us but "several" is a bit misleading, she came by just enough, she didn't even deliver the food I think. And by your own admission it was not busy as usual, so where was she? Also the food did not come in six minutes, I've included some screenshots with timestamps. It shows when we got our food. There was at least a 10 minute gap in between our first plate and the plate that was forgotten. We shared my plate and by the time the food came my partner was full. As a diner I'm not calling the manager for every little mistake. The mistakes are part of the experience, and my review is supposed to give you insight on how to do better. i haven’t had a bad experience here until last weekend on father’s day. I split the check between me and my siblings I payed card and they payed cash also leaving the tip in cash, I only signed my name on the recipient (brothers were there to witness) and didn’t leave a tip on card since me and my siblings already had left one in cash, two days later I get a email from which you will see above, saying I added a $20 tip, I immediately called the restaurant. The lady who served us answered and said that it’s written in the same pen? so I went over to the restaurant to see the writing because one knows how they write, this was definitely written after we left the restaurant the writing was not even close to how I write. The co-owner Irene said that the buss boys pick up the check books which is incorrect since I worked here about a year ago, and the servers would come around after to pick up the check. although they did give me the money back I am so disappointed If it weren’t for my bank sending me the message they would have gotten away with it! Amazing little spot feels like your take. Away somewhere else the staff is so nice. Food is amazing everything we ordered came out perfect and the green sauce is the topper . I definitely recommend this place if your around the area you will leave full and definitely happy the owners make you feel at home definitely will be going back . Had to add an update I loved this place from the day they opened there doors my family, and I have gone every week big small groups . I went there today like usual wanted to see for two this time. She told me 10 minute wait after 20 minutes in a party of 18 come in. She sits them down first after putting a bunch of two seats together. .
