I asked my friend to call the nearest Mexican restaurant for food. He ordered 3 chicken tacos over the phone to this establishment. Upon my arrival I was greeted as a doordasher, not as a regular client.
I paid for 3 chicken tacos and when my friend opened his food it was two tacos and rice with beans - their dinner special. The food came with chips and salsa so I told my friend I would drive back and exchange it and pay any fees or difference. He did not eat or want the beans or rice. The chips were fine so he ate them.
The cashier/owner - a bald man - told me to not “bullshit” him because he says we must to have looked at the menu in order to place a request online. I told him we never looked online or ordered online, that my friend called over the phone without looking at the menu. We just googled the nearest taco shop. I heard him order his food.
I told the cashier/owner to not speak to me that way and to please give me the 3 chicken tacos I ordered. I handed him the food I purchased minus the chips and told him I would pay the difference. After 20 minutes he brought me water with ice. I did not trust his smile or that he was being safe with my food.
I felt like the chefs were doing nasty things with my friends order of tacos so I left the establishment, left my friends food, and did not request a refund.
I paid 18.00$ to be talked down to and told I was a liar. I went to get my friend some pasta instead and I will never recommend this establishment to anyone.
I am Mexican and was broken-hearted at this supposedly “Mexican” restaurant’s first impression. I hope...
Read moreI went to the location to pickup some good food before they closed for the night. I ordered their Mexican Style Steak meal with Rice & Beans + it comes with chips & salsa. What i got for the night was a small serving of the steak w/o any rice nor beans. Then they put extra chips in the bag so I wouldn't notice the weight difference. I drove back acround the corner to restaurant & they was closed before 9pm, because they knew i was gonna come back. Unfortunately I paid cash...dont know what they are going to do tomorrow to fix this.
I went to them again to see if they can redeem themselves and they did not do so. They closed early, made empty promises of a discount off of next order then lied and said they didn't or wouldn't say that because times are tough. So i asked for some sour cream to go along with all the chips for my 2 dinners that cost over $40 & he wanted to charge me $2 for a small jar of it.. i went to C-Town & bought a jar for same price with change back. I will have to take my business around the corner to: Fogata-another Mexican Restaurant that Hopefully will have better service and food to match the nice look from outside.
I will try my best to convince my girlfriend to NEVER eat here again, but she is a creature of habit & don't care about the money nor service cuz im the one that has to deal with that part. He definitely treats the lighter hue patrons better than me & we are closer in complexion with each other...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Monte Alban Mexican restaurant in Hartford again tonight for the first time in a while. We've been many many times over the past 15-20 years. Their 3 Enchilada plate (called "Enchilada Huertenas"), is one of the most delicious entrees you will ever eat.. anywhere (no kidding)!! Highly recommend. (Ask for it nice and hot, as in temperature). Family business, originally from Oaxaca, Mexico. The head chef Wuenslao is a true artist. All the food is made from scratch, very fresh, subtle, perfectly spiced, and the best Mexican food I've ever had. Even the salsa that they give you with chips at the beginning of the meal is crazy fresh, so tasty, and beautifully delicate (homemade). And the soft cornbread that comes with the enchiladas is to die for. But, the Enchiladas are the BEST!! Alfonso (out front), and his brother the head chef really know what they are doing. My wife and I love Mexican food, and have eaten at numerous top level Mexican restaurants in NYC and we like Monte Alban more than any of them. Place is simple, but clean.. not about the ambiance so much, but the food is just outstanding!! Note: *Do try the 3 Enchilada plate with the 3 different sauces (verde, red, and mole: we usually get the 3 sauces on 2 chicken, and one beef). Try it, you'll see what I'm talking about.
**PS: Important note: Do not trust the negative reviews here. Some people just like to spread discontent. Not...
