First time and loved it the minute I walked in. Red Seats from Fenway in the foyer and the baseball memorabilia never ends. I could spend 2 hours just looking and reading. The place is cozy and quirky. There are several sections, down some stairs or through an opening to a bar area. Basically it has 4 areas to eat of drink, all delegated from each other. There are 2 bars or is it one big bar separated into 2 rooms. I checked them all out and they all look comfortable and inviting. We sat a a booth on the small bar area on the street side. There are some huge booths in the dining room front street side. Then there is another sort of quiet private room in the back with tables and lastly the big bar in the back with a table and several high tops. The menu is extensive for a pub. We had heard burgers were good so we went with the recommendation.
They were big,, flavorful and tasty. Lots of garnishes, cheese, bacon, onion, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, etc. All were generous portions especially the bacon. It was delicious. Regular fries were good and sweet potato waffle fries were delicious. We were too full for desert but can’t wait to come back and try something different. I had my burger on a gluten free roll and it was very good. I can’t wait to try the gluten free pizza. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed it so much and am a big fan of anything baseball so I purchased a shirt of which they have a large inventory of. Hats, short sleeve, long sleeve, hoodies, etc. There were lots of locals so as usual you can’t go wrong at a local watering hole. It’s open year round so if your around during the winter and are looking for a cozy place with lots of atmosphere do your self a favor and “slide” over to the “Hot Stove Saloon”, you’ll be...
Read moreI genuinely never write reviews- but with the experience we had felt necessary to do so. My boyfriend and I came in tonight for a bite to eat, expecting typical pub food (aka not super high expectations)- so I really feel like the bar was on the floor. The hostess who sat us was so kind, but that’s the best part of the experience. During our time there, we had some of their wings- they tasted frozen, which we can shrug off because whatever it’s pub food. Then we got our entrees, and the sandwich was edible, but the honey fried chicken was absolutely egregious. It tasted slightly sour, was kinda tough, all while being greasy. I don’t know how you hit all those benchmarks…
Anyway, service was also very poor. It was slow, and rather unkind, even before we brought up our concerns. The type of vibe where we asked ourselves “did we do something?” and we only had kindly ordered water. After getting our order in, we barely saw our server. We wanted to send that bad chicken dish back, but we had to wait twenty minutes to see our server to finally ask him to void it from our check. We spent $40 and left hungry, abandoned, and excited to go to the ramen place across the street.
If you see the pub is chill and easy to grab a table-...
Read moreWhat a nice surprise! The outside/front does not do justice to the cozy, welcoming interior of The Hot Stove Saloon! we were desperate not to spend a ton of $$ at a super fancy restaurant--we sat at a high-top by the window in the bar. 'Regular' dining table and booths complete this front area, though we were offered a table on 'the other side' which we never saw so I can't speak to that room. Our server brought us menus and drinks fairly quickly though we needed to wait a bit for him to return to take our order. It was busy for a Saturday night in February--tables all full and only a few seats open at the bar. For $14.00 each, I ordered a Cod Reuben with curly fries while my husband ordered a Native Cod sandwich with regular fries. Both arrived quickly and the filet on my husband's sandwich was quite large-cooked perfectly. Mine complimented my Amstel Light (hard to find these days!) with just the right amount of dressing to accent the filet. Texas toast enveloped both sandwiches--lovely thick slices, well toasted. Overall, a perfect pub style meal for a...
