A quaint bookshop in Harwich that has a little bit of something for [mostly] everybody-- classics, BookTok-approved romances, poetry, mystery, children's books, and selections from local Cape Cod authors. That being said, if you are looking for obscure literature, this is not your place. Everything here is a New York Times-bestseller or bonafide beach read.
Despite the Walt Whitman-inspired store name and theme ["The World Below The Brine"], their poetry inventory is rather small. Around 15 individual poetry collections-- including four from Mary Oliver-- were carefully placed on display stands directly in the sunlight. Consequentially, the cover of my copy of Diane Seuss' 𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘬: 𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘴 was warped by the sun.
When I was there, it was a busy day in Harwich and everybody was packed in the store like sardines. This was, in part, thanks to the gigantic tables which displayed twenty books at best, taking up most of the bookshop. Remove the tables, build one more shelf, open up some space!
