“Excellence does not require perfection.”
What started as a dodgy night ended on a high note. We had reservations early so we could catch the concert at 7. A disabled vehicle on the highway and weather had us 15 minutes behind schedule and our reservations. We called. No problem. We arrived and were seated promptly. Then…we waited.
Servers went by, the bus person brought us water, more servers went by. The clock was ticking. We stacked the menus on the corner of the table. We were ready to order…
Tick tock. It was approaching 20 minutes since being seated and no one had even asked about drink orders…the bus person came back and asked if we had been contacted by waitstaff. “No, not yet.”
He scampered off to the hostess stand, said something and we saw many eyes looking at us. This table was apparently in either an unassigned section or our sever had not yet made it in to work. Now, we were not more than 8 feet from other tables, but we were on an island 🏝️.
Finally, Logan came to the rescue. He apologized about the miscommunication. We let him know we needed to be out in time for the concert he said it would not be a problem.
We ordered; drinks, appetizer, salads and entrees. He assured us things would be rolling and there would be NO issues.
Drinks came. Excellent, unique STRAWBERRY FLOWER DROP $13 Tito's Handmade Vodka / St. Germain Elderfower Liqueur Strawberry Syrup / Fresh Lemon Juice
Fresh bread and honey butter hits the table. About the time we are slathering on the sweet bee 🐝 butter here come the side salads. Cold greens, fresh veggies and a tangy balsamic for one and a creamy 1,000 island for the other.
As we’re are finishing salads here comes the tuna crisp.
TUNA CRISP... Seared tuna, fresh sliced cucumbers, fresh greens, jalapeño coleslaw, fried wontons with a Asian sesame drizzle... 16
It was excellent! Crispy wontons, seared tuna-perfectly prepared, tangy Asian drizzle. This hit the spot.
As we had 1/2 a bite of tuna left, here come the entrees!
The redfish special this night was amazing. Tender, flaky redfish with a buttery, caper, roasted tomato sauce. It was worth the drive to Hattiesburg!! The asparagus was amazing.
The creamed spinach was excellent, less creamy than usual creamed spinach, - soupy but not in a bad or critical way.
The 8oz filet was just medium plus. Tender and seasoned well, a good steak.
The side was sweet potato crème brûlée. It had pecans and brown sugar on top. It tasted like Thanksgiving and Christmas 🎄in a bowl!!
Another round of drinks. Logan, unprompted, said the manager is discounting everything 10% due to the miscommunicae when seated.
Two desserts! Crème brûlée and bread pudding. The crème brûlée was creamy with the sugar crust caramelized to the hard crack phase. The bread pudding was sweet, delicious and came with a white chocolate sauce that complimented it perfectly. A shared bite of both created a creamy, sweet, sugar bomb of delectableness!
What started out as a potentially negative experience became a 5-star treat. Bourbon on Front rose to the occasion and did not disappoint.
Excellent service is not always one where there are no issue, but true excellence is how you deal with the challenges!
This was an overall excellent experience. We made it to the concert on time, by the way. Highly recommend you check out Josiah and the...
Read moreBourbon on Front Street has reached a new low, showing a complete disregard for the rights and freedoms that countless brave men and women have fought to protect. It is appalling to witness a business that not only disrespects a veteran’s right to peacefully assemble but also abuses its influence to trespass this man from public property. In what can only be described as a gross abuse of power, Bourbon on Front Street shamelessly claimed that this veteran's peaceful presence was interfering with their business— a business, I might add, that nobody was going to. It’s hard to believe that one man with a sign could cause such an uproar in an establishment that was already lacking in patronage. The truth is, they simply didn’t like what the man had to say and decided to flex their entitled muscles to silence him. This disgraceful act is not just about one veteran; it’s a slap in the face to all who believe in the fundamental right to free speech and peaceful assembly. Bourbon on Front Street has shown its true colors: a business that would rather suppress a voice than engage in a meaningful dialogue. What makes this situation even more infuriating is the complete lack of accountability from Bourbon on Front Street. Not once did they apologize or take responsibility for their actions. They used their influence to infringe upon a man’s rights and then hid behind the guise of protecting their business, all without a hint of remorse. If this is how Bourbon on Front Street treats our veterans and those who exercise their constitutional rights, then they do not deserve the support of this community. Their actions are not only a blight on their own reputation but on the very principles of freedom and respect that should be upheld by all. Shame on Bourbon on Front Street for their disgraceful behavior. This establishment has shown that they care more about their own comfort than the rights of others, and that is something that should never be tolerated. Let this be a warning to anyone considering giving them your business— they...
Read moreGot the spinach artichoke dip, medium rare ribeye, and five layer chocolate cake. the dip and cake were pretty good, but the ribeye was just not a great experience. When the steak first came out, it was extremely rare (blue rare), basically just seared on the outside. I tried eating a bite, but my jaw was getting tired just from chewing, and the texture at that doneness just wasn't appealing. When the wait staff walked by, I let them know that I asked for medium rare and showed them my steak. They were very nice about it and apologized for the mix-up, and said they would take it and bring me back the correct order. The waiter came back after a bit with a new steak and apologized again for order. The problem this time was that the steak was basically cooked into hamburger meat. I just finished my meal this time because at least it didn't have a raw texture now, and I didn't even really want to say anything the first time around. I don't know if maybe the chef was just having a bad day or something, but I probably come back here for a steak. Wait staff was very kind and attentive though, and the appetizer and dessert...
