THE RUDEST WAITER I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS. By far the WORST dinning experience I have ever encountered. While ordering I specifically said for their to be NO meat on my order, thinking that would be a simple request that could easily be followed. After waiting 30 minutes for the small two breakfast items that cost $30 we got our food only for them to have given me not only the wrong order but for their to be sausage covering the entire top of the meal. Once I pointed out the order was wrong and their was meat all over it I was told “yeah it’s sausage gravy obviously there’s gonna be sausage on it.” That being only one of the disrespectful comments he made throughout the interaction. Which included him gripping to his coworker about how “She has a problem with her food when obviously there’s gonna be meat on it” which was ultimately all his fault. Then the waiter grabbed my plate off the table handed it to his coworker then the coworker also started complaining about the situation. We were then told no refund was available because the food was already on our table. Once the person I was with made it clear to a manager that the waiter was incredibly disrespectful and the orders were wrong obviously a refund was given for the whole meal. Which was left untouched on the table. It’s truly sad that the basic waiting staff could not comprehend the principle of the situation and provide the bare minimum...
Read moreRuined our day. Entitled and rude staff turned a nice lunch with family (just met my granddaughter after traveling from PA) into an extremely disappointing experience. I have traveled with my own daughter to very high end restaurants, museums, art galleries, etc., and have never experienced anything like today. I was so impressed by my stepddaughter's managing her almost 1 year old daughter. I witnessed a glowing mom enjoying a nice lunch with family become heartbroken and defeated by a rude, judgemental manager who said she just has an "atmosphere to maintain". May I suggest you publicly apologize to Mom's who want to visit nicer restaurants? After all, don't you agree they deserve it more than the rest of us? In the meantime, enjoy your discriminatory, exclusive atmosphere and have a lovely day. You deserve it....as far as your food, it's fair. Before the no kids in nice reataurant comments, I would always politely excuse my family from a restaurant if anyone becomes loud or disruptive and am fortunate to have never needed to do so. I also have a lovely 12 year old who is able to manage herself in such places while I enjoy finer...
Read moreOccasionally, while off the beaten path, one finds a hidden gem. We found ourselves in Hattiesburg, MS the morning of October 21, 2020. While seeing the sights there we needed a bite to eat and I spotted a little place called The Depot Kitchen and Market. The Depot is one of those gems. We both decided on Bru’s breakfast bowl containing a cheddar biscuit topped with sausage gravy, bacon, scrambled eggs, and cheddar cheese. This dish was simply delicious! The cheddar biscuit by itself would be noteworthy, but the dish as a whole was superb. The biscuit was a large “cat head” biscuit the inside of which was light and fluffy while the slightly crunchy exterior worked with the bacon to add a juxtaposition to soft creamy eggs and gravy. The gravy was not simply bechamel with a few pieces of sausage tossed in. The gravy had a good amount of sausage throughout and had taken on a soft brown hue from it. The textural dynamic contrast within the dish is excellent and makes for a wonderful dining experience! If you find yourself hungry in or near Hattiesburg, MS, do yourself a favor and visit The Depot...
