Albie D's Italian Bakery — Restaurant in Haverhill

I went into Albee D's bakery for the first time last week. There was a very nice man behind the counter. I purchased a couple of pastry's to try because I wanted to order some for Thanksgiving. I asked him when the last day I could place an order would be. He said they'd be taking orders through the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I called on Monday of Thanksgiving week to confirm what the gentleman told me and spoke to a woman. I asked if it would be too late to order Italian pastries and a blueberry pie on Tuesday morning or should I come in on Monday. She assured me they would be taking orders through Tuesday. I arrived at Albie D's bakery at 8:30 am on Tuesday morning. There was a short older woman with glasses who was apparently an owner. She was with a customer so another girl came over to assist me. When I said I wanted to place an order to pick up for Thanksgiving the older woman spoke over me and said in a very annoyed voice "you can't place an order today". I tried to explain to her about the two salespeople who told me I could but she didn't even allow me to get all the words out. I tried several times but she belligerently kept ridiculing me for trying to place an order. Then insulted her staff for giving me apparent wrong information.

Not only will I never go to this bakery again but I wish I could give it less than one star.

I may note I have NEVER written a review in my life but in my profession I give excellent customer service every day of the week. I hope by writing this review it helps this woman learn how to treat people who are going into her place of business to spend...

I went to this Bakery to get a Birthday cake for my husband because he wanted a cake baked in an Italian Bakery. We just ate the cake and it was AMAZING. I don't think I've ever had a birthday cake that was this good in my entire life. And it wasn't just me that thought it was incredible either, my Husband thought it was incredible too, as did my adult son and my Husband's adult daughter. I would DEFINITELY recommend this bakery to a friend. I drove an hour and ten minutes to get this cake and it was so worth it. Since I don't often get to buy baked goods like this, I bought a Ricotta pie, some cannolis, and an assortment of cookies. I have not sampled them yet, but if they're anything like the cake I fully expect them to be amazing as well. I will definitely go back. Visited on a Saturday mid-afternoon. Place was clean and had a lot of room for customers to move around the displays. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The selection was typical of a bakery this size with cookies, cannoli, cakes etc... but they also had fresh bread and rolls. Quality was very good, not the absolute top tier of pastry I have had, BUT, & it's a BIG BUT, the value was off the charts. What you get for your $$ is exceptional we left with some cookies for the road and a full box of other goodies and the total was less than $25. This easily would have been $50 plus in a lot of places. I don't know about you but I am OK with a %10 reduction in perfection for a %60 discount in price. Will be stopping here again when we are...
