Called in advance to ask if they have vegan food for tea. They said absolutely, from start to finish. They also said there would be a $4 up-charge. Fine. I understand. It's not a vegan restaurant but if they go to the trouble of making vegan food, I'll happily pay extra. We made a reservation.
You had a choice of broccoli cheddar soup or a salad. Vegan broccoli cheddar? "Let me ask." The server returned and said "No, just salad." OK, I got the salad. "Ranch or balsamic?" She didn't know if they had vegan Ranch and so I just opted for the balsamic.
In the meantime, someone else marches up to our table and says "WHO'S THE VEGAN?" Ugh. She tells us there will be a slight wait as they had to send someone to the grocery store. We drank all our tea while we sat and waited. Our guess was it was for the "vegan" sandwiches and desserts. The vegan tea sandwiches consisted of sliced cucumber on dry white bread and hummus in tortilla. The desserts were fresh blueberries/raspberries and what seemed like strawberry and blueberry pie filling. There was one hot scone which was OK.
We wanted to split the check but the server told us it couldn't be done. One of us had to pay the entire bill. And she was annoyed that we questioned why it couldn't be done.
If you aren't plant based, the food is fine. But don't set expectations if you...
Read moreAh, dear readers, permit me to regale you with tales of my recent visit to Bella’s Tea House. In the heart of the city lies this little nook, a splendid testament to the art of afternoon repast. The ambiance is rather quirky, reminiscent of a bygone era where individuality was celebrated. The blend of mix and match china, each telling its own tale, coupled with the exquisite floral decor, transports one to a time of elegance and whimsy.
The fare, I must say, was of the highest caliber. The quality of the food was undeniably supreme, and indeed, one could scarce believe the value for money! A delightful spread fit for the aristocracy, yet priced for the common folk. And oh, the teas! A diverse selection, each more delectable than the last, perfumed the air with their intoxicating aromas.
But what truly made the experience memorable was the staff. Such delightful individuals, always on hand with a friendly smile, ready to cater to one’s every whim.
In summation, Bella’s Tea House is a veritable treasure. Five stars, unquestionably. I urge all to partake in the charm and delectable offerings of this...
Read moreThe last time I went to a tea room was 10. My boyfriend and I decided to go to Bella's because the other tea room we wanted to go to was full of reservations. We called up Bella's and they told us we could just come in! My favorite part about Bella's was the atmosphere, it's decor is suitable for a little girl and an 80 year old woman. The mismatch tea sets and plates just take you to another place in time. The server seemed new to the tea room, but everything was fine. Our table was a bit crammed and I found it difficult to get into my seat because it was placed right by a cabinet. I'm not a big girl by any means, but I had to slant my chair to get into my chair. The tea was good! We tried both the raspberry and the strawberry, the strawberry was my favorite. The tea sandwiches were a bit bland, but they were good. The sweets that were provided were also pretty good! The tomato soup was definitely my favorite food of the day! It was the best tomato soup that...
