Chubby's Diner — Restaurant in Hawaii

8/20/2023 9:30 PM Probably the worst restaurant to eat at. My boyfriend ordered the Kalbi short ribs and katsu combo for about $19. Let's just say I wish I took a picture because there was pretty much just the bone. I'm not a tourist, I'm a local so I know that Kalbi short ribs are supposed to have at least an inch of meat on it. It seemed like there was barely a centimeter of meat. We basically just paid for the flavored bone. I ordered the chopsteak. It wasn't bad, just really really salty. The chopstick was tender but I couldn't eat most of it because it was so salty. Needless to say, I think they cut off the meat from the kalbi short ribs from my boyfriend's order and put the meat in my chopsteak. My order was about $22. My boyfriends dad ordered the same. If you're looking to still be hungry, you should come here. I also don't eat very much anyway so... you pay $18-22 for food that won't even be enough for one serving. Maybe it would be good enough for a kids helping of food. On top of that, you pay and tip before hand, but have to go to the counter to order and clean up your own mess??? Basically you're just paying extra for basic counter service and not too good food. The music was good, but its a bowling alley. Maybe the chef hates his job idk. Its bad business. If the food is good, people will literally come to the bowling alley just for food. I get the economy is bad but no one should ever pay for food that isnt edible. You know, except for the mac salad and rice (they give a lot of that). So if you like mac salad, rice, and meatless bones. this is the place for you. Spend your $90 for food somewhere else. Literally...

I ordered the Loco Moco. It was thee worst I have ever eaten in all of the Hawaiian islands. Like Forealz tasted like sesame oil full on couldn’t taste jack of anything else ! And folks this is like the 3 rd time I ate here gross !!!! Don’t waste your money here and stay away from the Loco Moco !!!!!

I speak for about 10 people. And das okay , probabilities of acts of retaliations is famous in dis parts. No Tanx , I’m a cook of ova 30 years , not sure if your cooks just practicing or sumtin but none of us going step forward to make ourselves look stupid and be known by any of your employees or affiliates. No thanks. Some of us felt sorry and really wanted to jump on your line and give a few pointers. That’s how bad we felt aside from the food. And the 3 times I and others ate there tried different things. It’s like your cook is there for their paychecks and don’t enjoy what they’re doing ( no good dat kine cooks ). If dey nomo potential maybe dey can do sumtin else instead of cooking. People work hard for their money only to go out and enjoy a referral that turned out into a disaster ! Sorry to say. Either get people who enjoy cooking or do it yourself. Don’t practice on peoples hard earned money !

We spent a damn good amount of money too I hope someday the food gets better or please rehire a new crew ! The food sucks. You only get couple dishes dat is is good the rest , well let’s just say we’d rather spend our money at McDonald’s then eat dea.Its just a review , Good...

We were recommended this place by a local so we decided to try it out. Food was fantastic. BUT service was not good at all. I assume it is because we were not locals. When we ordered we were not offered a "number" to take back to our table with us as we sat. They immediately boxed our food up and gave it to us as a to-go order. I even gestured towards the numbers they had on the counter and the server told me "oh, you don't need one of those". We proceeded to go sit down at a booth and wait. They called our name, we got our food and unboxed it at the table. They gave us a bunch of packets of condiments. Since we ate there we didn't use them, instead of being wasteful we left them on the table for them to reuse and threw the rest of our trash away. When we got up to leave and throw our trash away an employee was cleaning and walked over to our booth, scoffed, rolled her eyes, and picked them up and threw them away. Maybe I should have thrown them away but I don't come from a wasteful household so I was trying to be nice. I will also add as we were eating our food another group came in, sat behind us, and the same employee gave them a number and even checked on them to make sure everything was okay while they were eating. Anyways, like I said. Food was GREAT. Service was not. So as long as you want a good meal and don't mind putting up with some unwelcoming vibes check...
