Came in on a day that they seemed to be short staffed. They did warn us that the service may be slow, but that wasn't the problem. They brought out 2/4 meals that were prepared not as ordered. Both the dishes had been ordered with no sour cream (one for allergy reasons and one for personal preference) but we're brought to the table with sour cream on top of the food. We alerted the waiter that the two dishes were incorrect and he took only one back to the kitchen (the one ordered without sour cream due to an allergy), not both. Because it did not seem as though they were going to correct the dish, sour cream was scraped off of it. While it was being scraped off, another waiter came to ask if everything was alright and refill drinks. We told her that everything was not alright and the other waiter was included correcting one dish not both. She said nothing and watched the sour cream be scraped off! When the other dish came back after being corrected, there was no sour cream, but the dish was still not correct as it had been ordered without beans. We had reminded the waiter of this when he took the dish back and he assured us it would not be a problem. As we were trying to tell the waiter the dish was still incorrect he turned around and left. At this point we gave up. They came back to clear dishes eventually, but never brought a bill. We went to the front to pay and tell them that we were displeased and they did discount our bill some, but not much, especially due to the fact that there were so many mistakes, the wait staff did not listen to us, and one waiter watched us scrape sour cream off of our food without saying anything. Aside from our unpleasant experience, the restaurant did seem clean, and the food was mediocre. However the portions were small for the...
Read moreFernando's is another hidden gem on Maui. At first glance it looks like a little wholesome restuarant. It's got that Mexican feel to it. The staff are extremely friendly. Store is clean as well as its tables & floors. I noticed that the alcoholic drinks they serve there are quite appealing. By the way, These are the same people from the Maui Marketplace. Home of the incredibly insane delicious monster burrito from ages ago. Memories of being epically satisfied with leftovers to the next day. Everything about Fernando's is unique. The make their own iced tea. I had it with my lunch and really enjoyed the full bodied taste. Their chips are tasty but with no greasy after taste. The salsa are still spicy & hot. Next time I'll ask for the mild version. Well, I tried the ground beef enchiladas with green sauce. The rice and beans really went well. The taste was wonderful! The enchiladas practically melted in my mouth. Trust me! The iced tea will definitely go well with any of their meals. Heck, I'm still digesting my food as I write this. For dessert I had a banana cream cheese rolled in a fried tortilla then dusted with cinnamon with a drizzle of caramel syrup. Overall I feel I got what I paid for and ended up satisfied. Thank you Fernando's and maybe later I'll try one of the monster burritos. I enjoyed coming & eating in another of Maui's hidden gems. I suggest coming to Fernando's and judge...
Read moreThis was legitimately a 1 star experience. The only redeeming quality of this establishment? Their floor was really cool. It was little hexagonal tiles. The salsa was pretty bad. It was brown with a really weird aftertaste. The green salsa was alright, but still nothing to write home about. The chips were small and we were given very few of them. When we paid 10+ dollars for a small bowl of guacamole they brought us another meager portion of chips that were both bigger and significantly better, however when we requested more chips we were brought the small sad chips once again. I don't feel like droning on about how bad this experience is, so here is the short list of my qualms: I asked for a quesadilla with sour cream and was brought a burrito with no sour cream, my girlfriends order was also prepared incorrectly and this food LITERALLY MADE HER VOMIT IN THE STORE, their fruit punch tasted like cough syrup, the place was empty and our wait was prolonged greatly, the quality of the steak was poor, and the accuracy of all of our orders was sub par. If you want Mexican food go literally anywhere else. Hell, taco bell would have better service, quality, and prices and isn't that far from...
